Frank Besag Obituary
Dr. Frank P Besag, 86, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. Frank was born on July 16, 1935. He was a Professor, Educator, Activist and Analyst. Frank received his undergraduate and doctorate at the University of Southern California. He taught at University of New York Buffalo, University of Washington Seattle, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Central Michigan University and Walden University. Frank authored several books, articles and papers including "Anatomy of a Riot: Buffalo, 1967". With his beloved Brother Peter Besag (deceased), he co-authored "Statistics for Helping Professions".
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Deal-Besag aka She Who Must Be Obeyed; 7 children and their significant others Scott (Sheri) Besag, David Besag, Brett (Carol) Besag, Chris Deal, Diana Deal, Jenny Deal & Tremell Taylor; Grandson Andy (Amy) Besag; favorite Cousin Frank M C Besag; various Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Beloved Friends.
A Celebration of Life service is planned for 4pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Enza's Italian Restaurant, 10601 San Jose Blvd #109, Jacksonville, FL 32257. There will be outdoor seating and social distancing. You may attend via Zoom Meeting: https://zoom.us/join . Meeting ID = 6051677510. Passcode is: 9Ho9kw
Memorial donations may be made to St Benedict the Moor Parish in Milwaukee, WI. Go to their website at www.stbensparishmilwaukee.org . Click on the Donate Button.

Kathy, My deepest condolences on the loss of your soulmate, Frank. You took good care of him. May your good memories and the knowledge that you were blessed to have this beautiful soul enter your life comfort you.
I attended TTCS with Frank and you on Arlington Expressway around 2007-8. My husband and I also attended Frank’s birthday party at your new house around that time.
I was always impressed by both of your outlook on life. Will always remember Frank and your bumper sticker: “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance”.

Frank was my major advisor for my Master´s, and I absolutely agree with Erica-he was difficult personally but brilliant. I learned a lot from him
