Frank Garrigan

Frank Mullen was a friend of my father, Bill Garrigan back in Shamokin. My father died in his early 30s. I was in second grade. My mother, Catherine, was trying to raise three children on very little. Shortly after I graduated from high school, my mother received a call from whom she later described to me as my father's friend. He had just found out my father had died some eleven years ago and asked my mother if there was anything he could do for her. My mother said that I was trying to go to college but needed a job to pay for it. He told her to send me out to Milwaukee and he would get me a job on the SS Milwaukee Clipper. Frank met me at the airport (first time I was ever on a plane)and took me to his home, where I met Nellie. They were so nice to me, a stranger. Anyway, because of Frank Mullen, I got the job, got through college to become a physics teacher, went on to law school, became a lawyer, got married and raised two lawyers and a college professor. But for you Frank Mullen, who knows ... who knows. Thank you for having such a big heart.

Precious memories from our childhood was Frank and Nellie sharing evenings of cards and dinner with our mom and dad. Mom's cousin Frank's greatest asset was his wonderful sense of humor. Frank and Nellie will be truly missed.
