Friedrich Scheu Obituary

Friedrich "Fred" Scheu

Lake Zurich - Friedrich "Fred" Scheu, 78, of Lake Zurich, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 in Hinsdale IL. Fred received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison and a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University. He spent part of his career on the west coast at Hewlett-Packard Company, where he led teams in research and development and was awarded several patents. He later returned to the Midwest, where he ended his career in telecommunications testing. Fred then decided to continue his love of education by teaching at College of Lake County, where he became Chair of the Department of Electronics. Among Fred's many accomplishments at CLC, he established a 2 + 2 program, whereby the first two years of students' education at the community college would be credited toward their four-year university degree.

Fred loved gardening, reading and religious studies and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He was a sounding board, a champion to support those he loved and had endless amounts of free advice dispensed willingly and repeatedly. His love, friendship, counsel, laughter and jokes will be missed immensely.

Dearest son of the late Friedrich and Magdalena Scheu. Beloved husband of Amy P. Scheu; cherished father of Erika (Andrew) Wagner, Rebecca (Sean) Lynch and the late Brian Scheu. Precious Opa to Madison and Mason Lynch. Treasured brother to Viktor (Lilo) Scheu, Irene (Gene) Brunner and the late Hans (Elvira) Scheu. Adored uncle to Michael Brunner, Diana (Guy) Scheu-Thompto, Vicky (Brad) Ohde, Monika and Peter Scheu, and Lindsey and Logan Fuchsberger. Loved by many great-nieces and great- nephews.

Visitation for Fred will be held Monday, February 15, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, IL.

The visitation will continue Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N. McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods, IL. Interment will follow in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery. The Reverend Timothy Kinne will officiate. The service will be available online at: https://www.stmatts.net/
