Gene Berman Obituary
Glendale - May 30, 2021, age 90. Preceded in death by Marilyn, his beloved wife of 65 years; survived by dear friend and companion Jackie Gilbert. Dear father of Elliot (Cantor Karen) Berman and Dan (Lynn) Berman. Cherished grandfather of Sam (Ginger Pasch) Berman and Hannah (Sam) Berman Hamilton. Adoring great-grandfather of Josephine and Marilyn Hamilton. Also survived by sister, Phoebe (Gordon) Zucker, and brother, Mark (Kaye) Berman; preceded in death by brother David. Further survived by many endeared relatives and friends.
He was a proud graduate of Washington High School, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin Law School, the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee School of Education and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a teacher and principal in the Milwaukee Public School System for over 20 years. After retiring he was a vibrant presence at the Milwaukee Jewish Day school where he taught math for 18 years. Gene took pride in helping his students reach their potential. The family thanks the staffs of Aurora Hospital Grafton and the Ovation Jewish Home for the caring attention they gave to Gene in these last weeks.
Funeral services were held. Private burial. Memorial donations to the Cantor Karen Berman Legacy Fund at Congregation Shalom, Milwaukee Jewish Day School, or Ronald McDonald House.

I would not have appreciated math if not for Adon Berman. His life is an inspiration, and his arithmetic remains an enviable challenge to any who had the privilege to learn from him. For all the "math lunches" I spent in his classroom, I hope he knew how grateful I have always been.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I was privileged to work with Gene for many years at MJDS. He enriched the lives of his students and all whose lives he touched. May his memory be a blessing.
