Grace Lange Obituary

Lange, Grace M. Died at home on November 30, age 87, surrounded by friends, family and caregivers. She was born in Delavan, WI to Edward and Margret (Godfrey) Lange. Grace was a graduate of Port Washington High School and received her BS in Dietetics from UW Madison. She was a dietician at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago for 15 years, and then for several years in Milwaukee at St. Luke's Hospital and the Protestant Home for the Aged. Grace received her Masters Degree in Library Science from UW Milwaukee and worked as a librarian at the West Allis Public Library for 32 years. She enjoyed reading, skiing, watching PBS and visiting with the neighborhood cats and dogs almost as much as she enjoyed the company of her own cat Eloise. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ruth Borwell, Mary Wright and Brother Edward Lange. Loving aunt of Frank, Mark and Eric Borwell and Margret Wright with whom she lived for many years. Visitation to be held at KRAUSE FUNERAL, 7001 W. Brown Deer Rd., Milwaukee on Friday, December 4, 2015, 6-7 PM. A special movie presentation of "The Mudlark" to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

I had the privilege of working with Grace for six years at the West Allis Public Library. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was great with the Children, and spoke from the heart. Meg, please accept my deepest sympathies at your loss and know that I will always have a special place in my heart for her.

Grace and I were Children's Librarians at the West Allis Public Library together. We worked on many Summer Reading Programs throughout the years. She was very imaginative and had many great ideas for children's programming. She also lovingly took care of the library's pet gerbils that were kept in the Children's Department. She had deep compassion for helpless children and animals, especially cats. She will be missed.

Grace was deeply loved, not only as a co-worker, but as a dear friend. It was Grace who sent us a picture of 19 puppies who made the front page of the Ozaukee Press. It was Grace who rode with us to Saukville to help us pick out a feisty Jack Russell mix puppy we named Guinness. Because of Grace, when the new Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus was built in Saukville, we made a donation to the building fund in honor of Guinness. Grace's legacy will live on in the lives of the animals who find the gift of loving homes through the WHS. We send our deepest sympathy, prayers, and love to you, Meg. The world is a better place because of you and Grace.

Her fine legacy will surely be remembered.

May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who fall asleep in death, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. Psalms 116:15

My sincerest condolences G. Quezaire
