I never got meet Greg and I wished so much that I had the opportunity to have met him. I still remember seeing every photo, story, status, update, and event that were in honor of Greg's battle through cancer. Every status update that I saw either on Facebook or Twitter or heard about by friend about ways that I could help support Greg, I did. I originally wrote something to Greg that explained about how I've seen my family experience many tough battles and doctors telling my family members that they wouldn't be able to do something normal again or live past a certain age. But they've been able to overcome their doctor's medical analysis and prove everyone wrong that told them "no". This includes myself as well in my life with the past. I had it signed and was going to send in the mail to Greg, but by the time I had it finished it was too late. I wanted Greg to realize that just because that at times his cancer may seem to keep coming back that he should never give up and keep fighting and pushing the odds. I wanted him to see that if my family and I were able to beat the odds, that he would be able to beat his cancer and prove his doctor's wrong. I'm sorry that I didn't do my letter sooner and I can only hope that Greg is looking down on all of us now to see the out pouring of support and love that he's receiving from this community and even complete strangers that supported him through Facebook or events that friends/family put together to raise awareness about his journey. Greg if your able to some how see this, then know you are still and always be much loved and remembered for not just your contagious smile, but your fighting spirit that brought an entire community together where each time that we wear yellow that we will remember you and how you never once gave up and kept fighting until the very end! To the entire Von Rueden family main & extended, you will continue to be in my prayers as will Greg. I know that the poster with a few pictures that I made in honor of Greg wasn't much, but it was something that I felt I could do in honor of him. Such an inspiration and will forever remember him. Thank you Greg Von Rueden! My prayers & thoughts are with you.

I can't imagine the pain left from losing a child. I thought you may find comfort in a scriptural account of Jesus restoring life to a twelve year old little girl. The account is in Mark 5:22-24,35-43. This account is so encouraging because it shows what Jesus can do for our loved ones.

I just read this quote today and felt compelled to share…
"I was told that heroes are made when ordinary people face impossible challenges. Well, my story starts with an impossible challenge. I believe it ends with a lot of heroes." Written by Jack Bartosz who lost his earthy battle to cancer. Greg definitely had an ultimate challenge. He is now inspiring us all to be better people, fight for a cure of this disease, and live our daily lives to the fullest. Greg is definitely a hero. Our prayers for all of your family. Remember, no one can take away the memories of Greg. We specifically pray that you feel Greg's presence all around you and that he shines down on you always.

Dennis,

You were probably Greg's age the last time we saw each other as you teased your sister Anne's friends. I have fond memories growing up around your wonderful family. And I know Greg was surrounded by that love and more throughout his struggle. I'm sure that was a great comfort to him and may that be a comfort to you and your family. My heart and my prayers go out to the entire Von Rueden clan.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
