I met Gunars shortly after Astra passed away; he came to Luther Manor Volunteer Services requesting to volunteer to fill the void in his life. Gunars was the only person I've met who could recount how long he was married...to the minute! From early March, we in the Volunteer Services offices knew a sweet, gentle spirit had breezed into our lives, if only for a short while. He helped transport residents and graced everyone when he played hymns on the organ for our residents. Gunars, daily, had quips, jokes and an uplifting spirit to put a smile on everyone's face, and start our day in a lovely way. His death is tragic, yet there is certainty he is with his beloved Astra. God bless you, Gunars! God bless your family now as well...may you all come to know the peace from God that passes all understanding.

Gunars was a wonderful, special person who made a differance in the lives of our residents and staff, including myself. My love and sympathy to the family in their loss. Gunars is with Christ, Praise the Lord!

We at Luther Manor were so fortunate to have been blessed with caring for your parents. Gunars always had a smile and a joke to share and was enjoyed by many of the residents over the past 5 months when he volunteered. God blessed him with many talents. We will truly miss our friend but find happiness in knowing that he is reunited with Astra. May all of your special memories and faith help you through this difficult time
