Hedwig Clara "Hattie" Wangerin

Wangerin, Hedwig Clara "Hattie" (Née Sommer ) Of Mequon. Our beloved mother "Hattie" was born to Elizabeth (nee Schumacher) and William Sommer, September 23, 1917, Milwaukee, first of five. Mom died peacefully of natural causes February 3, 2014, age 96. Mom was preceded in death by husband Elmer; sons Leon and Raymond Wangerin; brothers Alois (Rosie), Ferdinand (Lois), Lawrence (Doris) and Joseph Sommer. Loving mother of Barbara (James) Martin, Kenneth (Judith) and Dennis Wangerin. Dear mother-in-law of Sandra Wangerin. Mom is survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hattie was a Gold Star Mother, Girl Scout Leader, member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Cedarburg and member of Lumen Christi Catholic Church, Theinsville. She worked at Wausau Insurance in Milwaukee. Visitation will be held on Fri., Feb. 7, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 7626 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis, from 9:00-11:00 AM. Funeral service celebrated 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to all her health care providers, care givers and Meals On Wheels volunteers.
