My deepest sympathy to the family. I remember Father Schubert from when I was a very young boy and who even worked around the rectory doing yard work. He was a very good man and priest and friend.

Fr. Schubert was a cherished supporter of the St. Josaphat Basilica Foundation. His annual contributions toward the preservation of the Basilica of St. Josaphat were extremely generous and without fail. He truly understood the historic and spiritual value of Milwaukee's Basilica. The Foundation is grateful for Fr. Schubert's service to God and God's people.

Father Schubert was our family´s parish priest at St Adalberts in South Milwaukee. I served mass for him, he was my substitute basketball coach and he officiated at my wedding. He was a friend to my parents. He took all sorts of belongings when my Mom moved out of her condo. He was a man among men and a blessing to us all.

Father Herb Schubert served the priests
of our Archdiocese of Milwaukee very
well. I have fond memories of him when
we both served on the Priest Council in
the 1970's. Many years later we and other retired priests had a weekly lunch
at Polonia Polish Restaurant in the city
of St. Francis celebrating our retirement
and residing on the south side of Milwaukee. Rest in Peace faithful servant of God.

My dad died in 1998, while my Mom was en route back to Milwaukee from Michigan. No one there would/could meet her at the train station to tell her. Fr. Schubert stepped right up and did the job. I arrived at 930pm that night.
