As my older cousin in our close-knit family, Jean was a much-loved role model for me. She modeled graciousness, calmness under pressure, competence, loyalty, and love of family as well as other traits I admired her for. And she was a lot of fun. Our family was blessed to have shared life with Jean.

I knew Jean as a Shorewood neighbor and as a fellow quilter in the North Shore Quilters Guild. For many years, Jean was the liaison between our guild and local area hospitals. She would deliver “Love and Comfort” baby quilts to the hospitals' neonatal intensive care units for preemies and other at-risk newborns. She was a strong, yet kind, woman and will be greatly missed by many. Rest in peace, Jean.

Mrs. Doherty was a fantastic teacher and a wonderful person. I used to deliver the paper to her during middle school and then was lucky to have her as a teacher. Her son, John, taught me to play baseball. She was a kind spirit. She will be missed.

Jean was the definition of a champion. She was a pillar of strength and a bleeding heart all rolled up into one. She loved her Pat and thought the world of her three boys. She was her grandchildren's biggest cheerleader. She was wise beyond her years and we all know the world lost one of the best when she left. I feel so blessed our paths crossed. I am a better person because of Jean. My condolences to the family.

Jean Doherty defined the word "champion". She was a pillar of strength and a bleeding heart all rolled into one. She loved her Pat and thought the world of "her three boys." She adored her grandchildren and was their biggest fan. I am so sorry for your loss as I know the world lost one of the best. I feel so blessed that our paths crossed. XO
