Petersen, Rev. Jerome S. "Jerry" Age 77, of West Bend, was called home to be with his Lord on Friday October 4, 2013. Hartland High School class of 1953. Dana College in Blair, NB, Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, IA. Ordained as a pastor on June 4, 1961 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hartland. Jerry served as pastor of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Warren, IL and Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton for 35 years, retiring in 2000. Jerry is survived by his wife, Joan; four sons, Rev. Mark (Peggy) Petersen, Joel (Jody) Petersen, Paul (Carol) Petersen, and Steve (Kristin) Petersen; 15 grandchildren, Jocelyn, Briana, Ashley, Nathan, Eric, Andrew, Connor, Alayna, Luke, Levi, Matthew, John, Jim, Noah, and Ben; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Carson; other relatives and many friends. We will be celebrating Jerry's life because he is risen with a funeral service on Monday at 6:30 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Grafton (716 6th Ave.). Visitation will be at Grace Church on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Monday from 5:00 PM until the time of service. Cremation will follow at Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, West Bend, and Inurnment will be in Cedar Community Memorial Garden. Memorials to St. Luke Building Fund, Brick by Brick for Tanzania, or Cedar Community are appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.myrhum-patten.com

Dear Pastor Petersen's Family, Our deepest sympathy for your loss of an amazing Pastor, Spouse and Dad. Pastor Petersen has been in my life since I've been 4 and has been there for me through everything growing up in Grafton -including "Confirmation". He will always be remembered as an amazing Pastor and individual today and always. May you find peace in knowing he is at peace and joy with our Heavenly Father. God's Blessings always. Dear Joan and family,
I have fond memories of growing up with the Peterson family as dear friends of my parents. Ray and Myrtle were like extra parents to me and I recall many good times in their home with Jerry. He had a life filled with his love for his wife, children and grandchildren and his ministry. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Joan,and your family today as you celebrate with sorrow and joy the life of a loving husband and father.

For almost 40 years Pastor Petersen has been a dear family friend and almost an extended member of my Berg/Biedenbender/Ohm family. No words can express what he meant to all of us....he's been there to celebrate our family's highs (cousins' baptisms & marriages), and to comfort us during our family's lows (my infant brother's funeral).

And now it's all of our turns to be there to help comfort his family. Our thoughts, prayers, and wonderful memories of Pastor Petersen go out to his entire family during this difficult time. We will especially miss him at Shepherd of the Hills. May God Bless & Keep You All!
