Jim Autz

Autz, Jim Passed away October 19, 2006 from heart complications. Born to Barbara Herzog Autz and Rodney Autz in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 3, 1958. He was the grandson of Milwaukee Sentinel's perennial entertainment editor, columnist and movie critic, the late Buck Herzog. Jim started his own successful career in the entertainment business during his late teens as head sound mixer for Traum Recording Studio in Milwaukee. He subsequently notched over thirty years of experience in every aspect of Production/Post-production, including Studio Recording, Sound Reinforcement, Film and Video Production, Stage and Set Lighting, Multi-imaging, Mixing for Live Radio and Television Shows, Equipment Rental and Audio/Visual for Corporate/Industrial shows, Oktoberfests and nationwide hotel venues. Through the years, Jim created and built the flourishing audio/visual multi-media production company based in Glendale, California, AVLA/ Jim Autz Productions, Inc./ Network Events, providing the world wide entertainment industry with his expertise, passion and professionalism. Although Jim has passed on, his memory will be lovingly honored, as the company will continue to bear his name and carry on with his wonderful work to reflect his undying spirit. Jim's other passion was for enjoying fine wines of the world. Combining this pleasure with chef Jeff Scott's distinguished culinary skills, they partnered up to form "Perfect Pairings", conducting numerous seminars on how to choose the most appropriate wines to best compliment the foods being served. They have also joyously offered their shared passion on radio, having made frequent appearances on Tom Leykis' nationally syndicated talk show. Recently, Jim had been preparing a book from his own personal experiences on the sophisticated marriage of food and wine. Surviving Jim is his mother, Barbara Marx and step-father, Bill Marx, both of Rancho Mirage, California; sister Susan Kostrivas and brother-in-law Thomas Kostrivas, nieces Arianna and Elise Kostrivas, all of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; son Justin Egan, of Columbus, Indiana; aunt, Mrs. Robert Herzog Sr. (Mary Al), cousins and their families Robert Jr. "Buck" Herzog, Mike Herzog, Dr. Jeanne Benevides, John Herzog, Peter Herzog, Mary Olson, Mark Herzog, Dr. Margaret Carr, Dr. Joe Herzog, Tom Herzog, all originally of Elm Grove, Wisconsin. Jim touched everyone's life in a very kind and gentle way, beloved by all who knew him. Private services are pending.
