I learned of John Mayer through the Amrhein family. I never met him, but have heard so much about him. What a courageous man and what a joy and a blessing you all must have experienced being around him. Sending much love to the Amrhein family and Mayer families. Peace and comfort to you all.

John was a GREAT neighbor. Conversations always came easy with John and he had a way of making you feel at ease. Our kids loved the neighborhood movie night that he would host in the summers. Our thoughts and prayers go to Alex and all of John's brothers and sisters. You will be missed. Rest in peace.

ALS is a disease no one should have to encounter. John approached it as if it were a problem to be solved and he was determined to be instrumental in solving it. He studied the disease, volunteered for an experimental drug study and remained spirited the whole time. I'll miss you a lot.

I had many wonderful visits with John in the last year. He always had a smile on his face and never lost his sense of humor. What an inspiration he was. I will miss him so very much. Thanks to Alex and his family for helping me to share in John's life. What a trooper he was, and is now finally at peace. Until next time John.

My deepest sympathies to Alex and all of John's family and friends. I have often thought about John over the past few years. Just last night, as I passed by his street, I wondered how he was doing. Now I know that he is in a more peaceful place. Although it was a long struggle for John and the family, it seems like only yesterday that he was walking around, smiling and telling stories. It was only a couple of years ago that we saw John and Peggy at the Eric Burdon and the Animals concert. Take comfort in knowing that everyone did what they could and John knew that he was loved by many.

I had the pleasure of working with John for many years at MPS. He was very skilled and efficient, and had a kind and pleasant nature that has been missed for a long time. As a group we also enjoyed some beautiful days off on two wheels, and I'd like to think that is where I will see him again.

Dear Alex,

As John's #1 son you will always be very special to me. You brought supreme joy to John's life and his love for you was immeasurable. Trust that he will watch over you at all times. I will do my best to be there for you should you need me. I marveled at your father and son relationship with John and am extremely impressed with your maturity and strength in caring for your father throughout this very difficult period. I will keep you in my prayers daily. I wish for you the best that life can offer!

Love,
Uncle Ralph

John was a wonderful "little brother" to
all of his many sisters and brothers...and so appreciative of their
loyal and continuous care for him. I still remember him in his baby stroller as Mary Mayer and I walked our two youngest brothers...both named John. Rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord, John. We were inspired by your valiant and brave fight against ALS. Love, Penny Peek Pirsein
