John Muehlenbach Obituary

Muehlenbach, John On June 19, 2009, John E. Muehlenbach died from colon cancer at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI. Born and raised in the Milwaukee area, John attended Marquette University in his early years and eventually came full circle when he received therapy from the MU Speech/Audiology Clinic following speech impairment from a stroke. John enjoyed a long career in mortgage banking before opening his own mortgage banking company, which he and wife, Kathy, enjoyed operating for the last 10 years before retirement. John was committed and recognized for his service to the community as a citizen, Village Trustee, President of the Chamber of Commerce and member of various civic committees in Germantown and Washington County. Simply stated, John loved life and life loved him. He left footprints and made friends wherever he went by the way of his generous spirit, open mind and infectious laugh. John is survived by his wife, Kathy; four children, John C., Amy (Jeff) Johns, Dan (Kristin) Muehlenbach and Katie (Chris) Martinek; two grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Muehlenbach; and in-laws, Betty and John Tonne, Ken and Jackie Hastreiter and Peter and Kay Lettenberger. John's wife and family wish to thank those who circled around him to help navigate life's struggles and gain some serenity many years before leaving this life. The family is also eternally grateful for the loving support of family, extended family, neighbors, friends, all the hospitals' and clinics' doctors and staff and Tina Creegan and the MU therapists for their kind and compassionate care over the past 4 years. A special thanks to Nurse Candy, Pastor Debbie and the entire Ministry Health Care Hospice for the help and comfort given to John and his family as he passed from this life to heaven. A memorial gathering will be held at the home of John's daughter, Amy and Jeff Johns in Cedarburg, Sunday, August 30, 4-7 PM. For more info please email : [email protected] Those not able to attend the memorial are invited to send fond memories in a card or letter to family members. Memorial gifts may be sent in John's honor to Dr. Kate Hospice/Ministry Health Care, P.O. Box 770, Woodruff, WI 54568.

Kathy,
Brother Jim forwarded this to me. Ken and I are so very sorry to hear about John. Growing up he was "one of the guys". I know he was a good friend to Jim.
We wish you comfort in your time of sorrow.

Kathy,
We were so sorry to hear about John. So many of my "summer" memories include John and our group of friends at Cedar Lake. We had so much fun; he was a great guy. Plus then we got to be neighbors in Germantown, some of the best years of our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids.
Take care,

My condolences to the entire family. After Marquette High School, John and I did not have much contact other than some of the reunions, but I have fond memories of the times we had so many years ago with Seramur, Krill, Finkler, Fallon, Hortor, McCarville, Wieber, and so many others. Even though we haven't seen each other for many years, we always had the MUHS connection. As I write this I know John is watching and smiling.

I have so many happy and fun memories of "Johnny" and growing up down the street from him on 68th St. - his amazing brother Karl and fun Mom, too, and also so many terrific summers "playing" in our boats with our awesome group of friends at Big Cedar Lake ! They were the best of times and Johnny was such a wholesome part of it all. We went through grade school together, even planned its reunion in '82 and then lost track....how sad...please accept my sincere sympathies on your loss....he was a terrific and quality friend for many years...my prayers are with all of you....Barb Monday, Marietta, Georgia

I had the distinct pleasure of working with John years ago and getting to know him and his larger-than-life personality. Just the fact that I remember him fondly all these years lately shows what a remarkable and striking person he was. Heaven will be blessed with his presence.
