Dr. John Edward Sinsky obituary

John Sinsky Obituary

Sinsky, John Edward Sinsky, John Edward M.D., Age 94. Dr. John Sinsky died peacefully on Ash Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Silverado Memory Care Community in Brookfield, Wisconsin. He was born in Racine on October 30, 1922, to the late Anton and Julia (nee Belak) Sinsky and was preceded in death by his sisters Irene Lewis and Margery Stilp. John was a devout Catholic who graduated from Racine St. Catherine's High School in 1939, Marquette University in 1942 and Marquette Medical School in 1945. He served two years in the Navy. He met the love of his life, Regina M. Sinsky (nee DeCoursey) while stationed in Long Beach, California. They married on April 30, 1949. Over the course of their 67-year marriage, John took great pride in his nine children: John (Abbie Thomson), James (Cathy), Jerome (Anne), Mark (Elizabeth Arrington), Mary (Scott) Gilmour, William (Kerry), Michael (Mary Cunningham), Joseph, and Thomas (Elizabeth Zwerling). John was the fun-loving grandfather of 26 and great grandfather of 7. He was a dedicated and beloved physician who delivered over 8,000 babies in his Milwaukee obstetrics and gynecology practice. He often said that he enjoyed practicing obstetrics because it was wonderful and miraculous. This perspective prompted his lifelong support of pro-life causes. John lived a joy-filled and purposeful life. A warm and gregarious person with a quick sense of humor, he was actively engaged in a wide variety of interests ranging from Marquette basketball to Japanese bonsai. Notable among these was his renowned collection of Russian icons, several of which are on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum. He spoke Slovak, Russian and German and travelled extensively throughout the world. His love of travel often took him to places well off of the beaten path, including East Africa, China and multiple trips along the Trans-Siberian Rail route. He especially enjoyed travels to London with his wife, summer drive and canoe trips with his children and annual trips to New Zealand. He was also an avid runner and walker, activities that he routinely pursued well into his 80s. John was a devoted and caring husband and father who will be dearly missed by his surviving wife and family. Visitation will occur on Saturday, March 11th at 10 AM, followed by the celebration of Mass at 11 AM, both at Christ King Church, 2604 N Swan Blvd, Milwaukee. In his memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to Marquette University Blue & Gold Fund are appreciated.

I was looking for information related to my birth certificate when I came across Dr. Sinsky's obit. Was sad to see he is no longer with us. I was one of his over 8,000. He delivered my siblings and I. He seemed to be quite the Doctor. I only saw him on my literal birthday but for some reason feel a connection so I had to stop and send my thoughts. Rest peacefully Doc!

I met Jim Zinsky in St. Edwards University back in 1969 and him and his family invited me to their home in spring break.
I just wanted to say to Jim and his family how sorry I am and will keep him in my daily prayers.
I will always remember when I lost my class ring in the snow and all the family
help me find my graduating ring.
Thank You and may God Bless all of your family.

Dr. Sinsky delivered all six of my children. My last child, Jonathan (born 5-13-87) was Dr. Sinsky's last delivery before retirement. I will always remember how sweet and kind he was.

Katherine, Thank you for sharing so many pictures! I was trying to dig up photos of our DeCoursey family reunion to Alma, CO at the Fair Play Hotel. I will never forget hiking up to the family mine above 13,000 feet with my Sinsky cousins - we all laughed at each other and our flatlander lungs! Please know that we will be sharing a memorial mass for our Uncle John celebrated by his nephew, Father Jim Stehly on March 26th here in California. Though we get together to see each other rarely, you and your family are always in our thoughts and prayers, especially now. Rest in Peace Uncle John after a life very well lived.

We met Dr and Regina on a trip to the Hill cities of Italy around 2000. They are our favorite memory of the whole trip. They told Don that he reminded them of their son. I worked in health care in Racine and knew many of the OB/GYNs that Dr. knew. Regina and I bonded right away as we were the only old fashioned women wearing skirts/dresses on the trip! We have seen the icons at MAM on several occasions bringing back the warm memories of two of the kindest people we ever met. John was blessed with many talents and he used them to bring joy to others. He was most certainly made in the image and likeness of God and we believe he was honored by the Lord to be taken home on Ash Wednesday.
You have our deepest condolences and prayers.
