John Valenti Obituary

Valenti, John J. John J. Valenti unexpectedly left us on April 16, 2019 at the age of 92. He joins the love his life, Frances, his wife of over 58 years. He was kind, loyal and patient, and his quick wit brought smiles to all those he encountered. To Jeannine (Leonard) Machi and Denise (Charles) Valenti-Hein he was a devoted Father. He always made them feel safe and loved. He had an unparalleled ability to solve any problem. To Peter (Jessica) Machi, Ethel (John) Wu, John (Elizabeth) Machi, Vincent Machi, Lisa (Jamie) Valenti-Jordan, and Gabrielle (Kyle) Pollard, he was more than just a cherished grandfather- he was an expert pasta sauce maker, a joke teller and a wise sounding board. And as a great-grandfather to five "BIG" boys and three "beautiful princesses", he read countless stories, played catch, and was the perfect dance partner. He was an exceedingly generous member of his community, donating to any charity that sent a request. He proudly served his city and his country. He was an attorney, a Court Commissioner, a County Supervisor and a veteran of the US Navy during World War II. He will be remembered most of all for his kindness, his gentleness, and his profound love. While he will be painfully missed by all, we are comforted to know that he also joins his cherished parents, Vincent and Jennie, his dear sister Mary Ann, his beloved brothers Joseph, Amodeo, and Salvatore, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends are welcomed to gather at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (3722 South 58th Street, Milwaukee) on Monday, April 29th beginning at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 with entombment immediately following at Mount Olivet Cemetery (3801 West Morgan Ave., Milwaukee).

My sincerest sympathies to the Valenti family. I knew Mr Valenti when I was a teenager, a visitor to their home. He would generously invite me to play chess with him. He always beat me but would do it in a way in which he was teaching me game principles, and in the loveliest way. He made a teenager feel respected and valued. I am sure that he did that for everyone in his life. The world will miss this warm, kind man.

I thank God that he allowed me to live next door to John (and Frannie) for the last 21 years. I will always remember him for his wisdom when I needed his advice, his subtle sense of humor; especially when he was poking fun at Frannie, the great love he shared with her and his generous spirit. There was seldom a time that his parting words to me weren't "Make sure you come next door if you ever need anything". I pray for his family that God brings peace and comfort to their hearts as they say their last goodbyes to a truely great and wonderful man and give God thanks and praise for John's life.

My sincere condolences to the Valenti family.

I first met Attorney Valenti many years ago as a kid when he partnered with my father in the law firm of Valenti, Flessas and Foley.

When I became a lawyer, I'd occasionally bump into Attorney Valenti at the courthouse. He was always very personable and a pleasant man who was genuinely interested in everyone he spoke with.

Attorney Valenti attended my father's wake last year and described the history behind the "Bushville Wins!" banner prepared by the partners.

All three partners jubilantly carried that banner down Wisconsin Avenue immediately after the Milwaukee Braves beat the Yankees in the '57 World Series.

Attorney Valenti talked about the history behind the nationally recognized photo captured by a Milwaukee Journal photographer. Everyone in attendance enjoyed his recitation.

Attorney Valenti garnered utmost respect by others. He was a very good man.

May his memory be eternal. One last thing: Please say Hi to my father and mother in heaven.

Uncle John, Oh how much you are already missed! Our visits and conversations were something Mike and I always looked forward too. The stories we shared, and the laughter will always be remembered. From being my babysitter to the exceptional care you gave your brother (my dad) and the compassion and caring you gave to me when I was so ill. We came through the tough times together. Give Aunt Fran a big hug from me and I know that we will be seeing each other again in the future.

For 9 months now I have seen John nearly every day from across the chapel at Mt. Olivet. Although we spoke briefly just once, I developed a silent respect, and admiration, for the man who had such deep devotion for his beloved wife. He will be missed at Saturday masses. Jesus has called you home John, may perpetual light shine upon you.
