John Wilkinson Obituary

Wilkinson, John D., Jr. "Jack" Born June 27, 1929 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, to Dr. John and Gertrude Wilkinson. Born to Eternal Life June 14, 2012. Survived by his sons John D. III of Dallas, Terrence (Catherine), and Robert; stepsons Stephen K. (Beth) Hermes of Clarkston, Michigan and Robert J. (Patricia) Hermes of Plymouth, Michigan; grandchildren Jennifer (Marc) Rainey and Diana Wilkinson of Austin, Texas, Seffie, Cate, Thomas, and Tiernan Wilkinson, Melissa (Michael) Magee, Nicole (Matthew) Jones, Stephen Hermes, and Robert Hermes, Jr.; great-grandchildren Caitlin Rainey, Matthew Jones, and Sawyer Jones. Beloved brother of Gert Wilkinson of Oconomowoc, Dorothy Yentz of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Mary (Joseph) Schwartz of Wauwatosa, and Lawrence (Diane) Wilkinson of Eagle; brother-in-law of Jean Foti Wilkinson and Nancy Wilkinson Burke. Further survived by dozens of nieces and nephews and many friends. Preceded in death by his wife Janet Wilkinson, brothers Ned Wilkinson, Michael Wilkinson, and Daniel Wilkinson. Jack grew up in Oconomowoc. He was a graduate of Notre Dame University and Marquette University and a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War. A long-time resident of Wauwatosa, he moved to Detroit in 1984 and lived in Grosse Pointe Woods. He was a member of Saint Paul on the Lake Parish in Grosse Pointe Farms. Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2012, at 3:30PM, at LUMEN CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2700 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon. (Corner of N. Range Line Rd.) A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 5:30PM. Memorial gifts to Catholic Charities and the American Cancer Society are appreciated. Go maire na mairbh agus a mbriongl"idí i bhfoscadh chaoin dílis na Trion"ide. May the departed and their dreams ever dwell in the kind and faithful shelter of the Trinity.

I offer my condolences to the family of John Wilkinson. I am especially mindful of his sister, Gert, who served the BVM Congregation in the capacity of the Stewardship Committee. I imagine the goodness and generosity of Gert were shared by her brother.
