Thank you for being a great Uncle. I will always cherish the times we spent together as a family. I loved going out for Italian food and spending time at your home. You were always so kind, thoughtful, and you had a great sense of humor. Sending my love to Aunt Joanne.

My sympathy to Joanne, Joe was the BEST BOSS ever. He was a great listener and had the best advice. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I held him in high regard. May the Lord comfort you.

You know sometimes things happen in life that we are unable to definitively explain. The last time I actually saw Joe was like five decades ago, I did briefly talk to him 21 years ago, it was a phone call I made to him about the passing of my mother. Now today I just learned about Joe passing but what happened yesterday before knowing of this has me a bit mystified.
Yesterday morning I had what started as a fleeting thought about Joe which resulted in some reminiscing and then I began to wonder about how he was doing and even though I had no intentions of contacting him I just wanted to know so I did some quick internet research. I discovered that he and Joanne had moved from Germantown to West Bend and that was it, that's all I found so I assumed all was well with him.
Now knowing of his passing I continued reminiscing about the times I spent with Joe, Don, Carole, their Mom, Dad (who I'm pretty sure never spoke a single word to me), the house on 36th street, the tavern on 35th street, the cottage on Little Cedar lake and although all that was another life time ago, I remember it like it was yesterday, just thinking about all that puts a smile on my face.
Back then I had no way of knowing how one man could influence a 13-year-old kid like Joe did, he was emotionally and intellectually the strongest and smartest person on the planet in my eyes, something I've strived to become myself and that image of Joe has stayed with me for more than 50 years.
For me personally, as I think about Joe now, I do get sad but mostly thankful for having the opportunity of his influence, I am a better person as a result of knowing him. If I could say one final thing to him it would be... they don't come any better than you Joe.
To Joanne, Carole and Don and to those I've never met that were closest to Joe, please except my sincere condolences, this must be a truly sad moment in time for you. Joe was a good man, the best there is, he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
