Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service - KewaskumWith heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard “Rick” Averill, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Rick was born on February 13, 1956, in West Bend, Wisconsin, to the late LeRoy and Marilyn (Thelen) Averill and was called home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2026, at the age of 70.
Rick lived a wonderful full life of selflessness and giving, always putting others before himself. His dedication and generosity touched the lives of many, whether through his work with the City of West Bend as a valued member of the Public Works team or in his countless hours spent coaching young athletes. A proud graduate of West Bend West class of 1975, he left an indelible mark on the local sports scene, coaching Little League baseball, playing hardball, softball, and coaching wrestling at West Bend East and Kewaskum Middle School.
Known for his vibrant spirit, Rick enjoyed many passions. He cherished family outings, casino trips, and golf, boasting an impressive record with three holes-in-one. He was a long-time member of Hon-E-Kor Golf Club. He also found immense joy in spending time with his family and creating lasting memories with his grand puppy, Ellie.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Carol Averill; step-daughter, Cassandra (Vince) Wilson; sister, Renee Averill; brothers, Russ (Jane) Averill, Randy (Judy) Averill, Roger Averill, Roy (Carolyn) Averill, and Reid (Maria) Averill; mother-in-law, Beverly Rohlinger; in-laws, Tom (Marlene) Rohlinger, Kathy Rohlinger, Tim (Tammy) Rohlinger, and Kelly (Kevin) Marquardt; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his twin brother, Ross Averill and brother, William Averill; father-in-law, Gregor “Crickets” Rohlinger and sister-in-law, Connie Averill.
Carol and family will be forever grateful to his brother-in-law, Tom Rohlinger, for his selfless act of kindness and love by his kidney donation to Rick.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rick’s life on April 11, 2026, at Hon-E-Kor, 1141 Riverview Drive, in Kewaskum from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
