Elaine, I am so incredibly sorry to hear about Joe's passing. Joe was my first boss with Frank B. Hall what feels like a zillion years ago. He was exactly what was described, a person who loved his family, his dogs and loved helping others, including me! I will always hold fond memories of Joe close.....may time help you all heal with your loss! My condolences to all!

Joe Brown was the first political collector I ever met. I had learned about APIC and joined, and one day when I was in Junior High school the phone rang at home one evening and the caller introduced himself as Joe Brown from Milwaukee. He was in Wichita to do an audit at the local Allis Chalmers dealership. He came to our home that weekend, and that was the beginning of a lifetime friendship. Joe explained about ribbons, tokens and medals, and small pictures on a tin type that he called a ferrotype, as well as litho and celluloid pins. So much to think and learn about. It was all just great. Thanks for so many wonderful memories.

Dear Elaine and Family, Joe and I worked together at a Milwaukee insurance agency several years ago. He was very supportive and kind to me at the office. I will always remember how he gave me presidential candidate campaign buttons, pictures, etc. for my Dad who was also a military veteran. It always gave my Dad a big smile--those were priceless moments for me. I also remember so well us going to Joe's favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch on occasion. I have thought about Joe so many times over the years and hoped he was enjoying life. He truly is a very special man. My deepest sympathy to the family. Sincerely, Joyce Walter

Mr. Brown was like a second father to me growing up. His daughter Susie and I were the best of friends and grew up living next door our entire childhood. I have many, many, fond memories of Mr. Brown. My favorite is going to the Milwaukee Christmas parade every year with he and Susie . Every year he would let us pick out an ornament and buy it for us as a special memory. Mr. Brown was such a warm and generous man. He always made sure that I had some extra lunch money to buy a special treat or candy bar despite my attempts to say no thank you, he insisted that I take it. He was so caring and loved his family and pets so very much. Even though I am all grown up and haven't seen Mr.Brown for a long time, I am fortunate to have known him. My heartfelt sympathies to the entire family.

Joseph G Brown was a wonderful person. Many many years ago at a A.N.A show for coins collectors in downtown Milwaukee I was looking for items to add to my collection. I saw a gentleman looking at tokens and this man had a book with him that was very well worn. I asked this man what book he had and how it was helpful with what he was looking at. It was Joseph (Joe Brown) and he had a J. Doyle De Witt book. This book was what caught my eyes. Joe Brown was close friends of De Witt. I talked to Joe Brown for he longest time at the show and I become a friend of Joe Brown and joined the A.P.I.C (American Political Items Collectors) Because of Joe Brown. I had been to his house to view his unbelievable collection a few times and its was like I was at a Museum. Joe Brown came to my house and met my mother and my items and I was a young man then. I loved to talk to Joe Brown at the Political shows in Milwaukee and Chicago and the Nationals and bought many great items from him. It always seemed like us collectors could not wait for Joe Brown to show his goodies. Many many collectors gathered around like tables waiting for his items to be put on his tables. I took my wife and daughter and went to Oscars Hamburgers on S, 27th in Milwaukee (They have the Best Burgers) and I was wearing a shirt with Political pins on it and it was Zach Taylor an Told me Grandpa collected those and he asked me If I did and I told him I knew his Grandpa very well. I seen Zach at many shows with his Grandpa. Zack did not remember me but Zack had a Grandpa that was Very special to him but will be missed by so many many others. He was MY FRIEND.
