Heart broken that I found out about this the day after the service... Joe, you were loved unconditionally by the three amazing women in your life until your last breath. They will continue to hold you in their hearts until you meet again! Give little John big hugs and kisses and spend time catching up with the little guy. I’m so happy you are with him again. It literally fills my heart with joy! He’s waited a long time for his daddy. Love you Joe. Until we meet again.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I knew Joe and Carol from the Froedtert Cancer Center when it was still on the 3rd floor in the East Clinic. In the years I was there I worked the front desk and got to know them very well. They were both two of the kindest, caring people I had met. We shared many talks about the Merrill Park area as my Mom and her family had lived there some years back. Joe fought so very hard all those years but I never heard him complain and they both had a wonderful sense of humor. Carol, stay strong with the wonderful memories and may Joe never be forgotten.

My discussions with Joe were always insightful and fun. His wit was quick, sharp and a very knowledgeable man on many topics. Those memories are solid and meaningful. I believe his love for his family and friends will always be there. His goodness and love for others is still all there. It was an honor to know him. May God Bless all his family and friends.

Joe and Carol were staples at St. Rose of Lima parish as were Tom and I. Joe, Carol and I made music there for so many years. We will always remember Joe's smile, his calmness, his sense of humor despite all the tragedies life threw at him. I'm sure my mom and dad, June & Lee Petchel, have welcomed Joe into heaven along with Johnny and all the loved ones who have gone before Joe. My mom always said Joe reminded her of a royal Prince. And truly, he was a prince of a man!!!

Remember Joe fondly from St. Rose as well as West Division High School. He always seem so upbeat even with the many difficulties he endured through the years. Both Joe and Carol had great strength. Eternal rest grant unto him Lord and the Perpetual Light shine upon him!

Carol, Sarah and Becca,
Mary and I were so sorry to hear about Joe’s death. When I am listing the good people in my life, he is near the top. I first met him at a meeting of the Building and Grounds Committee at St. Rose’s. I was impressed by his gentle intelligence. (Those qualities were in short supply at St. Rose’s in those days.) I was always amazed at his equanimity in the face of great personal difficulties and strange times. I remember with fondness our dinners at Balistreri’s. We live in a world in which many people lose faith. Joe kept faith in so many important values. I was honored to have known him and share in your sorrow.

I always knew Joe to be a very positive person with a good sense of humor.Despite all of his personal health issues,Joe kept a positive attitude. He was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Merrill Park. The love of his life was his wife Carol who stood by him in all of his medical procedures. His daughters Sarah and Rebecca were always very supportive of their Dad ,especiallly in these last few years. I was always impressed with Joe's efforts to reach out to the many homeless Vietnam Vets. Thanks for your service to our country. May Joe rest in rest in the Lord, surrounded by family and friends.
