Judith Meaux Obituary

Meaux, Judith Ann (Nee Witt ) Age 58, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday March 31, 2016 at Zilber Family Hospice. Beloved wife of Thomas, cherished mother of Cari Lynn (Kauth) Gearhard and Nicolette Marie Meaux, precious daughter of the late Richard and Viola Witt, sister of late Richard Witt Jr., Judy is further survived by her adored grandson Mason, much-loved sister Carol (Richard) Muenich and mother-in-law Betty Meaux, other loving relatives, and dear friends. Judy grew up on the North side of Milwaukee, attending St. Phillip Neri Grade School, James Madison High School and earned an Associate Degree from MATC. Later she went to Lakeland College and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Professionally, Judy developed an outstanding career managing a medical laboratory dedicated to matching tissue types for human organ donation while raising her oldest daughter, Cari. Later she gave up her "for pay" career to raise her second daughter Nicky. Seven years ago her only grandchild was born; "Gammy" loved and guided him along the way. Judy was an amazingly kind and selfless person, constantly encouraging people who needed help. She loved gardening, flowers, birds, nature walks, Zumba, bike riding, almost anything outdoors. Judy was a voracious reader, an enthusiastic supporter of the environment, and was very patriotic with her Dad and two uncles having served our country during World War II. Most of all Judy loved her family and friends, always organizing and hosting gatherings to keep everybody connected with each other. Judy developed deep friendships, with "Team Judy" wholeheartedly behind her throughout her treatment of advanced cervical cancer since diagnosis in early 2014. Despite all the radiation and chemotherapy treatments, Judy never complained and constantly reached out to help others especially the "Teal Ladies," a worldwide support organization for women diagnosed with gynecologic cancer. Judy's wish upon her passing was to donate her body to the Medical College of Wisconsin in the hope that future cancer patients could benefit. A religious service and celebration of Judy's life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 Washington Street Grafton, Wisconsin at 4PM on Sunday, April 10, 2016, with light refreshments and social in the church gathering space following. Family will greet guests starting at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Judy's life and spirit can be made to the National Flag Day Foundation, P.O. Box 55, Waubeka, WI 53021-0055 or Riveredge Nature Center, 4458 County Rd Y, Saukville, WI 53080 or the charity of your choice. Judy's screen saver said it all: "In the end only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you."

Tom,
Jackie and I were sorry to hear the news about Judy's passing. We have fond memories, most recently (a few years ago) when we had dinner with both of you).

I was always happy to see Judy walk through the gallery doors as I so enjoyed talking with her. We would reminisce about growing up on the NW side of Milwaukee, talk about Nicolette's college choices, her much loved grandson and Cari's job at UHC. What a positive, happy person! I will miss her and her beautiful smile.

May your love for her continue to grow, though her spirit has moved on. She will be with you forever.

God bless!

Tom & Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. God has His plan for all of us, unfortunately we do not know what that is. Give yourselves time to grieve and time to heal. Judy will be there in your thoughts always.

Tom,
I know we have not kept in touch for a long time but I just heard from my sister about your loss. I feel just terrible to hear about Judy. The 2 of you made a great couple and you have my deepest sympathy. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. It was my pleasure to have known her if only briefly. I hope we can keep in touch in the future.
