Julia Egner Obituary

Julia "Julie" Egner

Entered Eternal Life on September 16, 2020, at the age of 59. Loving sister of Jenny Bartoloni and Phil (Paloma) Egner. Cherished aunt of Laura (Julien), Alex (Stephanie), Lilly, Mercedes, Phil, Jack (Claire), and Loulou. Great aunt of Marin, Felix, Julius and Sophia. Further survived by sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, many cousins and countless friends.

Julie will be remembered for her fabulous sense of humor and infectious laugh, her love of all animals (but especially her cats), of music and film, of which she was an exceptional connoisseur. In her work as an oncology nurse, she was tremendously respected and appreciated by her colleagues and, perhaps most of all, by her patients.

A memorial will be held on Sunday, September 27, at 1:00 PM, at Shully's, 146 Green Bay Road, Thiensville, WI 53092, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Wisconsin Humane Society, 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53208, would surely warm Julie's heart as she gazes down from her new perch in the sky.

Julie was an incredibly generous person. We go back to 7th grade together, at St. Eugene´s in Fox Point. But I wouldn´t have gotten to know her as well as I did if not for the friendship Julie had with my sister, Maria Jerskey. Maria also attended St. Eugene´s though she was a year ahead of both Julie and I. Julie was kind enough to put me up for several days in 2000 while she was living in L.A. Not surprisingly, she made me feel right at home. We could talk once every few years and pick up right where we left off - as though it was yesterday. God bless you, Julie. Rest In Peace.

So sorry to hear the news. Joolz was our friend from Fox Point. My family bought the 'mustard' house on Greenvale from her family in the 70s and our circle of friends included her sister Amy, Chris, Ken and Michael. We hung out long after high school. Movies at the Oriental, Summerfest and concerts of course. Years later Julie was in Paris at the same time as me and my dad so we shared a suite, the sights and nightlife. In 2006, my mom was hospitalized at Froederdt hospital and who was her nurse? dear Julie with her ten mile wide smile. What a gal. Chère, c'était une bénédiction de te connaître.

Au revoir
friend and coworker Julie

A very dedicated nurse and great open person.
My preceptor in the Infusion clinic.
She had been a founding RN of this clinic
and gave so much education to the patients and laughs and jokes while caring for them. She cared for us too and communicated it warmly. I miss the laughter and French she spoke . We had a great time going to the Infusion nurse's convention in Charolette. The cakes were great too. God had a place for you and will take care of you. I'm so sorry for her families loss.

A great day with my wonderful friend Juliee

I was just thinking of Julie the other day!! I'm so sad to hear of her death. I worked with her til she retired a few years ago. Always had a bright smile and am easy laugh. She will be missed by many co-workers from over the years and her patients!! They always asked about her. She left a deep impact on all she interested with. I will for sure miss her. See you on the other side Julie!! Mo

I worked with Julie (or Julietta I used to call her) in the Infusion clinic. She started as a teacher and mentor to me, and turned out to be a great friend. Her smile and laugh , true Julietta trademarks. We took a drive together once to Doctors Park and the Audobon center. This was followed by a guided tour of where she grew up. Lots of good laughs that day. My sympathy goes out to her family and others she left behind .

I met Joolz years ago working at the Gourmet Cheesecake Shop, where we had so much fun! Laughing and talking while baking cheesecakes. We remained friends through the years and more recently saw plays and musicals together. Singing the songs and recalling the past. She was a trivia buff—she knew details that most forget. Joolz was a loyal, fun friend, who would drop everything to help in a crisis. Her most outstanding skill was being a kind, compassionate nurse, giving attention and knowing her patients personally! I will miss her much and will keep her alive in my heart always. -Lisa Nickel

Julie was one of my best friends in grade school at St Eugenes and then into high school . I used to walk to the mustard house in Fox Point, often bringing Julie her homework as she was not always a fan of going to school! I understood early that she was going to do things her own way which was very uncommon for a catholic girl in 1970. In eighth grade we were cheerleaders together which was more than memorable. Then it was off to Dominican High School and life at the Porticos which was of course great fun as I’m remembering a lot of “self” supervision. I saw my first movie with Julie and her mom “Fiddler on the Roof”. Julie introduced me to the music of Laura Nyro, Stevie Wonder and Phoebe Snow...a far cry from James Taylor. Julie possessed a drama and flare for life which she generously shared with her hand gestures and infectious laugh. We mourned the great loss of Amy together and celebrated the gift of friendship. Now I mourn the loss of Julie and am grateful for that same friendship.

I am a high school pal of Julie’s. I have so many wonderful memories. She was always kind, appeared happy, and did a good job covering her pain. I am so grateful we were able to spend an amazing evening together in 2016. It’s a great reminder to always attend the event...you never know when it will be the last opportunity to see someone. Much love to her family. ❤

I will forever remember Julie throughout grade school and high school - but the one memory that stands out is of her on our bus trip down to Beloit for our "official 8th grade party". She was cracking jokes, making everyone laugh and telling us all about this band "The Kinks" that she had discovered and loved. Every time I have heard a song by The Kinks since that day I think of her. She was a uniter, and a bringer of joy, even way back then. So very sorry for her family and all the friends who had the privilege of knowing her throughout the year - I know you are missing her terribly. May the smile she found so readily bring and equally joyful one to your lips every time you think of her. And may she sleep forever in the arms of the very best angels.

Dear Jenny and Phil and all of YOU who are related to Julie! I am beyond sad to hear that our beautiful Julie has left us! Albeit, I didn't see her (at all) for years and years. We managed to get her out of her comfort zone and she joined us at a reunion that we had for our "core group" of Dominican High School girlfriends. We had a blast!! Jules was in great spirits and we had a cake for her birthday which was days later. I worked for a summer with Julie in Madison at The Ovens of Brittany/Bakers Room. I can still picture her behind the glass tossing that dough around with her little hat on! She was sooooo cheery and always "up" ~ she introduced me to the "morning bun" and the world's greatest CROISSANT which she would say over and over in her best French accent "Croissant" "say it Meg, "croissant" geez Jules, I tried!! We shared a LOVE of music, and we partied together many times at the ol' Porticos ! So many many great and some very sad, hard times together, BUT, that's what a friendship is all about. We traveled the tough roads together and we traveled the fun roads together! No regrets! I know she had some struggles, I know her health was tricky. Julie was such a sweet gal, I pray for you all. I know that she is at peace, I know she is safe with God. I can hear her laughing, I can see her spirit, it's very much with me! She was one of the kindest. God Bless you all. Take care!! And Happy Heavenly Birthday Julie!!
