Karl E. Schulte

Schulte, Karl E. Age 83, of 1700 S. 18th Street, Manitowoc and previously of 413 Birchwood Drive, Francis Creek, died at sunrise Monday morning, April 16, 2012 at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County. He was born on June 6, 1928 in Milwaukee, son of the late Theodore and Marie (Conrardy) Schulte. Karl was a graduate of Pio Nono High School in Milwaukee. He then graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Journalism Degree. On August 16, 1952 he married the former Patricia Sheehan in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2000. Survivors include 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law: Paul and Mary Schulte, Appleton, Philip Schulte, Two Rivers, Dan and Sowsan Schulte, Chicago, Illinois, Dave and Steph Schulte, Riverside Illinois; three grandchildren: Noor, Ben and Kate and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe and Pat Schulte, Santa Barbara, CA, and Dick and Terry Schulte, Milwaukee. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a son: Stephen. Karl owned and operated a printing company in Man-itowoc for many years, and prior to that served as general manager of the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter. That job fulfilled his long-held ambition to run a local newspaper. It brought him great joy to do so in Manitowoc, not only due to his deep love of that community and its residents, but also because his paternal great-grandfather was one of the first landowners in the county, having arrived from the Westphalian region of Germany in 1848. Karl will be deeply missed by his family and friends, all of whom knew him to be a gentle, caring and kind person. The family would like to thank the professionals at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County who provided him with compassionate and quality care during his recent health struggles. Thanks also to the residents of the Felician Village in Manitowoc who made Karl's last years so very rich and happy. A Private Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home in Manitowoc.
