I have many great memories of my Aunts Kathe and Mellon from childhood. I am glad I could attend the funeral and hear the wonderful stories of all the lives that they touched. May their spirits always be remembered by all their friends and family.

Tom,
Thank God for the Memories, otherwise the loss of Kathe in our life would be too much to bare. A better friend will be impossible to find. Our deepest sympathy to you.

Dear Tom,
Knowing the sadness I have felt since learning of Kathe's passing, I can only imagine your sense of loss. My memories, of course, are centered around our time together in the Elks/Knights band.

Kathe was the spirit of the band. She was a great, passionate musician, highly competitive when we went up against all those pretenders, and always shared her warm sense of humor, telling her stories or laughing at yours.

I regret that I cannot be there today to share my sympathies and more memories with you in person. I will always keep Kathe in my thoughts.

Michael and I were sadden to learn of Kathe's passing. We shared some great memories the last couple of times we saw each other. I am glad we were able to have that time together - she made us laugh and what a great laugh she had. Our sincere condolences to your family.

We met Kathe and Mellen in St. Germain at Deer Run almost 20 years ago. We have always enjoyed their company, laughing and drinking wine. We are so sorry to hear of Kathe's passing. We had dinner with her at our cabin on July 22nd. Our sympathies to her brother, Tom, any other family members and her many friends. Jane & Jim Krause, Hobart, Indiana

Kathe Betz knew how to live life! Her classroom was next to mine at South Division, but we knew each other many years before in Elks Band, Brass Band and Knightwind. Kathe was a wonderful musician, a respected teacher, a world traveler, and a terrific story teller. She had a great gift of making people laugh and she will be missed. My deepest sympathies.

I was fortunate to have Ms. Betts as my mentor as I was a student teacher her last semester before she retired...learned a little about art education, learned a lot about life and enjoying it....Glad your back with Mellen....RIP Betts, I cherished my time together, you made my "work" enjoyable every day.

Ms. Betz was a wonderful art teacher! She took me under her wing and her excitement for art was what inspired me. I've been out of South for nearly 20 years but I still think of her to this day.

August 8, 2010

Our deepest sympathy to Tom and family for the loss of an extraodinary human being, gifted in music, art and the knack of making and keeping friends.

Kathe was a very special person. When we were in college I never knew when she would pop in, day or night. She will missed. Ellen Blank Blanchard. "blankity-blank"

My deepest condolences to Ms. Betz family. As a former study at SDHS, I can say she was one of the most wonderful teachers we had. Even though I was never lucky enough to have her for class, she was great to interact with and will always be remembered for her warm friendly ways. Best Regards, Cyndy Berrones (McCorkel) Class of 1985

Kathe was a special person.
Her gift of laughter, stories and smile will be missed. Kathe made us laugh and will not be forgotten.
I remember her story about how her car was stolen in the school parking lot.
My sympathy to family and friends.

We will miss Kathe very much. She was a special friend ever since we first met in college. We will miss the letters of her many food/fishing adventures. We send you our warmest thoughts of sympathy.
