Kevin Ruch Obituary

Ruch, Kevin J., D.V.M. It is with deep sadness we share the untimely passing of Kevin as a result of an unexpected health event. Kevin was the outstanding husband of Beverlee. Loving father of Tyler and Samuel. Beloved son of Norm and Joanne Ruch. Dear brother of Bryan Ruch and Colleen (Andy) Doll. Cherished son-in-law of Donald and the late Rosemary Podewils. Well-loved brother-in-law of Barbara (Randall) Nashleanas. Also lovingly remembered by other family, many friends and "all creatures". Kevin achieved his childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. He joined the Elmbrook Veterinary Clinic in his senior year and never looked back. He became co-owner of the clinic in 2013. He was a skilled surgeon and thorough vet. He will be missed by his many patients. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12 at Brookfield Christian Reformed Church (14135 W. Burleigh Rd.) from 3 PM to 6 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, April 13 at the church from 10 AM until 11:15 AM, followed by the service at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Brookfield Christian Reformed Church, Brookfield Christian School or Wisconsin Humane Society. "Go Badgers!"

I still think of him so very often. Every time I have a concern about my dog I miss him even more. I had so much trust in how he provided care for my dog. I've never had a vet who was so kind and caring or one who always listened to what I had to say, knowing how to reassure my concerns and help me to know he would always be there if I needed him. It seems so wrong that someone who gave so much to so many would have his life end so early.

Kevin and his team and family will remain in my heart forever. I think of him many times a day whenever I look at my beloved Chance. Kevin saved his life and consequently mine. I have a picture of Kevin, Bev, Sam and Tyler on my frig. Happy times. Elmbrook Veterinary Clinic grew to be a success through his kindness and dedication, and through Bob Marold's vision and leadership. He knew special when he saw it. This is a clinic that attracts the best because Kevin's legend continues to bring in only those whose knowledge, dedication, kindness and true love of animals met and would meet with his approval. His physical presence is missed until we will all see him again. Happy with that same smile, sense of humor, and gentle hand. My Tiger, Kalle, and Sisu will recognize him, and Chance will plant huge kisses all over his face. Chance really likes beards! Sleep well Kevin. The resurrection promise sustains us all.

We are shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Ruch's passing. Those associated with Elmbrook Vet Clinic have lost a great man and doctor; our sympathy to everyone there and to his family and other friends. I was looking forward to seeing him at our cockatoo's checkup and telling him she laid an Easter egg (actually laid it on Easter Sunday). He will be greatly missed in many ways. Praying for peace and comfort to all who knew and loved him, and who are missing him deeply now.

I was shocked when my husband, Bob, told me yesterday that Dr. Ruch had died suddenly April 6th. Bob found out when he called yesterday to make an appointment for our Doberman, Saida. Dr. Ruch had been recommended to us because of his love of Dobermans. Dr. Ruch would always let Saida lick his face when she came in to see him. We knew that she was always in good hands. We saw him this past spring and had the pleasure of meeting his son, Tyler. Tyler shares the same love of animals as his father. Dr. Ruch was such a gentle, caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable veterinarian. More importantly, Dr. Ruch was a wonderful and faithful man, husband, father and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our prayers go out to Bev, Tyler, Samuel, Zeke, Murphy, Midnight, Mufasa, Felix and his Elmbrook Veterinary Clinic family.

I just opened up the veterinary clinic's website to get the number to call and schedule a wellness visit for my beagle Lola only to see the sad news. I will pray for his family and all the staff at the clinic. He was the most wonderful vet I have ever had the privilege to take my two beagles to. We will all miss him terribly.

I was just informed of Dr. Ruch's passing and I must say I am both shocked and saddened. He has been our family vet for the past 18 years and I have traveled to keep him our vet. His manner was second to none and the way he did things for the animals I have never seen anything like it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bev and the children.

Dr. Ruch was the consummate caregiver. It is difficult to imagine that he is no longer with us. He took time to call me on his off duty hours to consult and console me about a very bad prognosis for my dog a few years ago. I will always remember his professionalism and kindness. My condolences to his family.

It is with great sadness we have learned of Kevin's passing. While we recently knew him as our caring local vet, he was primarily known to us as the supportive loving father when our sons played little league together.

I called the clinic today and learned of Dr. Ruch's untimely passing. With tears I try to pay tribute to this outstanding veterinarian and offer condolences to his wife and family. Dr. Ruch was an extremely skilled veterinarian who truly cared. He always welcomed questions and throughly explained all options, risks and concerns. Over the years he gave wonderful care to my cockatiels, my cats, my dogs, and joined me in laughing when I brought in a pet rat. His expert advice and treatment gave my pets long lives and he helped me make hard decisions at the end of their time with me. Dr. Ruch's great personality was a joy during the good times and a comfort during the health challenges of my pets. He and Beverlee and all his coworkers were especially dear to me during the senior years of my dog Trudy and the sudden illness of my cat Mabel. I will remember Dr. Ruch always and wish for a vet half so skilled and caring for my pets in the future. I liked him immensely, trusted his expertise, appreciated his patience, and enjoyed his sense of humor. I am sure he was just as wonderful a man privately as he was in his profession. Sincere sympathies to the staff at Elmbrook and deepest condolences to Beverlee and family.

I just read about Dr. Ruch's passing and it hit me like a ton of bricks. He was a wonderful, caring vet. My mom and I traveled from upper Michigan to Elmbrook for my pets to see him. Elmbrook has always been my go-to vet clinic despite the distance... I love all the vets there, so my thoughts and prayers with one of the great ones, and his family.

I just learned of Dr. Ruch's death on Friday. To say I was stunned is an understatement, particularly since I had just seen Dr. Ruch a few short weeks ago. As others have stated, I too am heartbroken over this news. Dr. Ruch was a modern day St. Francis, an exceptional vet and kind man who will be sorely missed. I hope the family can take solace in knowing his life touched so many of us. You all have my deepest, deepest sympathy.

We are shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Ruch. Our hearts go out to his entire family, work family, friends, and patients. Our chinchilla, Chilli, had seen him for 13 years and was never as calm as he was in Dr. Ruch's presence. He had a calming way about him....the way he spoke; the way he held animals; the way he explained things. He was passionate about his work and deeply cared about his patients. He was the most-trusted vet we had ever had the pleasure of knowing.

We are both shocked by the passing of Dr. Ruch. He has been the greatest help with our seizure dog Kirby and all his antics. He helped us keep Callie as comfortable as possible until the end. A sad loss not only to family and friends but to those that have had the good fortune of having crossed paths with Kevin during one's lifetime. I was one of the lucky one's to have been able to call Kevin my dear and close friend during his high school and college years. Always a real stand-up guy that would help anyone at anytime. A true humanitarian in every sense of the word.

Bev, Tyler, and Sam:
We are deeply saddened at the loss of your most beloved husband and father. We send our deepest sympathies. Dr. Ruch took care of our Mexican Spotted King snake, and over the years you and Dr. Ruch have each been so very caring and kind to our family and various pets. Dogs and kittens of our family, including those of adult children were always in his and your loving, skilled hands. Most recently, we would not have been able to have the gift of Harlem for all the extra days you gave us ~ the gifts you have bestowed on us,and all your patients has added immeasurable joy to our lives!! We are with you in spirit, sending thoughts and prayers, and much love to your entire family.

April 17, 2015

My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends at this sad time. My relationship with Dr. Ruch was through my dog, Molly. He performed careful surgery on her just last month and she is better than ever through the work of his loving and knowing hands. I knew him to be a dedicated, devoted vet. He will be missed greatly by the community but not nearly as profoundly as by those who shared his life. My heart goes out to all of you.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dr. Ruch's passing. He was truly a wonderful person, and vet. We used to say that we would chose him as our pediatrician if he would have us! April 13, 2015

Even though I attended today's service, I am still shocked that Dr. Ruch is gone. The void he leaves behind is great and incomprehensible. Through the years he helped me on my never-ending journey to be an aware and enlightened pet owner; always exploring ways to improve their well-being naturally with minimal medications and surgeries. While he gave exceptional care of each of my many pets; he gave special care to my most precious dog of all, Minerva. Periodically, she would have to spend the entire day getting hourly blood tests at the clinic. Instead of keeping her in a kennel, he allowed my beloved Minerva to stay with him in his office. A quote from Ghandi suggests that a person's morals & overall greatness can be judged by the way they treat animals. This means that Dr. Ruch was one of the greatest (fill in the blank!). I extend my deepest sympathy to his family and those closest to him.

Kevin always made himself available to help us, even after hours and on weekends-he truly seemed to love his work. His bedside manner will be truly missed by all his patients along with their owners.

Our hearts are just broken by this loss. He was an amazing man, neighbor, vet, and friend. We will miss him dearly. The Primakow family (Ishtar the cat included), will have you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Our hearts are breaking with the sad news of Dr. Ruchs passing. Over the past 25 years he was loving and kind to all our kitties and big yellow dog. Dr. Ruch would sit on the floor with our furry family at our visits and they never noticed they were really being checked over while being loved up.

Sending love and warm thoughts to his family and friends.
With love, Heather and DJ Verhaalen

It is a gift to be that exceptional vet. Dr.Ruch had that gift, he was that "one in a million" vet. He was our vet for our very first puppy to our foster dogs along the way to all our rescue dogs. He was so knowledgable, so patient, and so incredibly kind. The way he cared for each and everyone of our pets was a gift. Dr. Ruch will be greatly missed but heaven is a better place.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. Where are we going to ever find such an expert Sheep's player? Our deepest sympathies to the family.
