Laura Steffen Obituary

Hudson, IN. Laura Lee Steffen, 85, of McClish Lake, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005 at her home. Mrs. Steffen was a registered nurse and a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at and retired from Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital. She was an American Red Cross volunteer and a member of the NAACOG. She was born July 30, 1920, in Omaha, NE, to Jessie Lee and Grace (Haight) Stinson. She married Norman Steffen in April 1941. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1979.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Janice Steffen, Oak Creek, WI, and David and Dolly Steffen, Minneapolis, MN; a daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Paul Marki, Hudson, IN; four grandchildren, Kerry (Duane) Fisher, Todd (Rebecca) Steffen, Caitlin Steffen, David (Terri) Marki and seven great grandchildren. A sister, Francis June Stinson, preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Hales Corners Lutheran Church, Hales Corners, WI. Interment of her cremains will be held in a private service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bay View, WI, at a later date.

Memorials are to DeKalb Memorial Hospice.

I will always remember Laurie as having a powerful and likable presence about her. I was drawn to her sense of humor and fondness of life itself. She made you feel special. I will miss her.
