Strothenke, Laurie L. (Nee Peterson) Of Wauwatosa, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the age of 56. Loving wife of Jeffrey for 28 years and caring mother of Marisa and Dana. Devoted sister of Judy (John) Mayhew, Scott (Nancy) Peterson, and Bonnie (John) Schanz. Dear sister-in-law of Karen (the late Gary) Nordby, Paul (Clarice) Strothenke, Kurt (Lynn) Strothenke, Scott (Cindy) Strothenke, and Todd Strothenke. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Tyvand "Pete" and Bette Peterson, and her brother, James "Jimmy" Peterson. Visitation Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from 3:00pm until time of Memorial Service at 7:00pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of her father. Laurie was a 1980 graduate of Wauwatosa East and earned a degree in Occupational Therapy from UW-Milwaukee in 1985. She was a compassionate therapist at St. Camillus for 31 years, proud resident of Pabst Park Neighborhood, and dedicated member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Laurie touched so many lives with her positivity, contagious laughter, and loving smile. Her memory will live on in the hearts and actions of those who love her.

My sympathies to your family. I only got to work with Laurie for a short time at St Camillus. It was in 2007 and my first job after graduating and she helped to take me under her wings and guide me along. It felt like family to work with all of them, and I am very grateful for that time. Her and Wendy were the phone a friend people for pt updates and I used to sit and laugh when they would be doing an update to each other. I am very saddened by this and now having a family of my own, it is horrifying to be reminded that life can change in an Instant and how too often we take that for granted. She has a great memory to cherish and I feel grateful for having been able to work with her and hear how much of an impact she was to others. God's blessing to all of you.

It has had such a visible impact on so many here. We are extremely grateful for the thirty two years of skillful and compassionate care Laurie provided to scores of residents. I knew Laurie while working at St. Camillus. I always enjoyed her fun and happy spirit. When I told her she reminded me of actress, Blythe Danner, she would toss her hair back and smile, saying she would be back later for an autograph session. She was easy to laugh with, and was such a friendly person. I know she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. My heart goes out to her family during these sad and difficult times.
