Lawrence Wolf Obituary

Wolf, Lawrence Arno Of Dousman. Passed away on November 6, 2007, at age 91. He was born Lawrence Arno Edward Wolf at Elkhart Lake, WI on April 15, 1916. Larry was educated in the Elkhart Lake School System. He started his business life helping his father on the family farm and in their well drilling business. His brothers, Clarence and Harold, started Wolf Trucking Co., an earthwork, sand and gravel construction company, of which Larry had an early part. Larry was a skilled mechanic and in his late teens was hired by Schwab Buick of Waukesha as a Buick mechanic. Larry decided he wanted to work on Chevrolets and went to work for Dale Chevrolet. On the weekends, he worked for Miller Chevrolet of Dousman. He met Lucylle Butler of Waukesha and they were married on March 11, 1936. Larry and Lucylle enjoyed Dousman so well that they moved there and started a family. Leland, Lowell and Lynne were born and raised in Dousman. Larry met August Shuster in Dousman and started Shuster & Wolf Sand and Gravel. Upon Aug's retirement in 1941, Wolf Construction was born. Under Larry's direction, Wolf Construction Co. went on to be the dominate construction company in Waukesha and Jefferson counties. Most of the roads, bridges and parking lots in the 1950's - 1970's were constructed and maintained by Wolf Construction. Wolf Paving succeeded Wolf Construction in the 1980's and is an ongoing operation by son Lowell and his family. Larry was an avid private pilot owning several of his own airplanes used in the construction business and for his travels all over the United States. His interests were in traveling, politics, flying and real estate. Partnering with Ray Ruff and Ted Morey a multitude of subdivisions and shopping centers were developed. Larry was active in the National Slurry Seal Association serving as a two term National President. He was also active in local politics. He served as Mayor of Dousman from 1965-1975. Larry and Lucylle maintained homes in Dousman, Sister Bay and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Their real love was their lake in Dousman. Larry and Lucylle were blessed with a large family: sons Leland and Lowell, daughter Lynne and all their spouses, 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday night at the Pagenkopf Funeral Home in Oconomowoc, from 4-8PM. Funeral Mass will be at Saint Bruno's in Dousman, at 5PM Tuesday. Additional visitation and family greeting will be held one hour before Mass. Following the Services, lunch will be served in the Saint Bruno Hall. Dear Lynne, Lowell & Lee(& families): I just read about Uncle Larry in the paper(on line). Our deepest sympathy. He lived a full life. I remember lots of fun visits to Dousman, a few to Sister Bay and one to Ft. Lauderdale.
We won't be able to attend Uncle Larry's funeral as we are already in AZ, but we will be there with you in thought and prayers. Sue & Dave

To the Wolf family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. He was loved and will be missed by many people. He touched the lives of so many people. He was a good friend to my brother Allen and he thoroughly enjoyed the time he was able to devote to Larry.
