Frederick Charles Wolf, 78, passed away on February 12, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on July 2, 1947, Fred graduated from Conestoga Valley High School and later from broadcaster school. He went on to work as a radio DJ, including at WGAL, where he brought warmth, wit, and an abiding love of music to the airwaves.
Music was not simply a profession for Fred — it was a language he spoke fluently. He took genuine pleasure in sharing the songs he loved, often with a sense of anticipation that made each moment feel special. To share music was, for him, to share himself.
Fred’s professional life was varied, spanning work as an automobile mechanic, a position with the railroad, and ultimately his retirement from WK Kellogg Co. Beyond these occupations, he played a meaningful role in shaping legislation that ensured fair treatment for individuals injured in the workplace — an effort rooted in his strong sense of justice and one that stands as a lasting testament to his character.
An analytical thinker with a curious mind, Fred found joy in the mechanics and motion of the world around him. He loved locomotive trains, cars — especially his beloved Toyota Prius — amateur radio, and photography. As a licensed amateur radio operator, known on the airwaves as N3CSL, he delighted in the connections and conversations the hobby brought into his life. His sharp, wicked sense of humor left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
A lifelong lover of animals, Fred had a special affection for cats, including two Bengal cats he adored, and enjoyed bird watching.
The son of the late Edwin Wolf and Hazel Kretschman, Fred is survived by his devoted wife and longtime friend, Gerry Ann Wolf; his sister, Rose Wolf of Salem, Massachusetts; his son, David Wolf of Bellevue, Washington; his stepsons, Robert Barnett of Denver, Pennsylvania, and Thomas Barnett of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and his stepdaughter, Brigette Guyer of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by two biological grandchildren, Lila and Rook Wolf, five step grandchildren, and one step great grandson.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who supported Fred, with special thanks to the compassionate care teams at Oak Leaf Manor North in Landisville, Pennsylvania, and Luther Acres in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
In the language of the trains he loved, when one passes, the saying goes: “He caught the Westbound.” It is a fitting farewell for Fred — a man of curiosity, motion, and heart — who has now made his final journey.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, at 9 AM, with a funeral service honoring Fred beginning at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
