Levens DeBack Obituary

DeBack, Levens P. II Born to eternal life on October 10, 2017 at age 85. Lovingly survived by his wife Vivien (Pledl) DeBack. Married a wonderful 62 years! Beloved father of Mark (Mary Beth) DeBack, Clair (Jim) Bloedel, Levens III "Skip" (Viki) DeBack and Robert DeBack. Proud grandpa of Levens IV "Evan" DeBack, Taylor Schnitzler, Kallen DeBack, James Bloedel, John Bloedel, Lauren DeBack and Grant DeBack. Great Grandpa of Kamryn Schnitzler, Anthony "A.J." Schnitzler and Oliver Schnitzler. Dear brother of Marion Borchardt. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings Francis Schmidt, Mildred Schmidt and Jane Jorgensen. Lev retired from Franklin Middle School after 40 years of teaching science. Patriarch of a large and loving family, he was a lifelong mentor and community activist. Visitation will be held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church (7963 S. 116th St., Franklin, WI) on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2:00-3:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 PM. Burial will be private at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery.

Mr. DeBack was a most memorable teacher in my educational journey- I like to think he had a hand in me becoming a science teacher. Continuing to foster a love of the sciences in future generations - thanks Mr. DeBack!

Skip, Clair, Mark, Robert and Mrs DeBack (yes you will always be Mrs DeBack). So sorry to here about Levens the 2nd passing away. I still remember him giving an unscheduled science lesson is Panama City Fla. about the sea squirts that we found and the fun you can have with them. He we be missed by many I'm sure.

I remember Mr. DeBack as my science teacher in 7th grade. I don't know how he handled us middle schoolers! He was a Saint.

Our Uncle Lev was a strong and loving man who wasn't afraid to be married to a strong and loving woman. His encouragement gave wings to Aunt Vivien throughout her career and life with him. Our deepest sympathies to the entire family. Uncle Lev will live in our hearts forever.

My condolences to the family. Mr Deback was a teacher of mine when I was in school. I am now 49 yrs old and still remember how he made an impact in my life. He made students love to go to science class. He was such an awesome teacher. You know the kind of teacher you remember all your life.
