You do not even know who I am but when I was studying radio and television production in the late '70's - early '80's, I wanted to sound and have the mic presence of Tom Butenhoff. I studied his style for years and tried to incorporate it into my own. I never even listened to the radio station that carried him, but I knew when he was on and I tuned right in each day. I even listened to tape of his cantor and diction. God bless Tom and his family.

Rest in Peace Loving Father.
Tom Butenhoff accepted me for who I was —
Then, he shaped my life as I became a young man - well into adulthood.
Tom Butenhoff imparted his wisdom, kindness and generosity—
As if I was his own fresh and blood.
Tom Butenhoff shared his wisdom compassionately and it shown through every word.
Tom Butenhoff rewarded himself by helping others —
The father I am today is largely due to his unconditional love as a parent – as a role model.
Tom Butenhoff bestowed into me what cannot be replaced with worldly possessions—
There is no worldly value one can amass comparable to what he has done for me.
Tom Butenhoff, I hold very dear to me. Always.

To Viv, Garrett, Brook and the rest of the family:
We just want to add that we will miss Tom more than you can imagine. A great friend to us for many years we shared many an adventure. I will miss our monthly lunches at California Kitchen and the fun we always had with him. After 30 years, I can never remember a time when we didn't have fun. Whether it was sports, politics or family, we had so much in common. I remember the smile on his face the day he saw me and Deb cross his name off in our Bibles. The praying was worth it. We are going to miss the good times and I have lost a great friend. I know we will see him up the line.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I have lost not only our personal financial adviser of over 20 years but a best friend. From our radio days together at WISN he will always be "The Booter" ... with my signature line, "You've gotta love him!" My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Brooke, Garrett, Viv and their families. He is one very, very special man who always displayed high integrity and incredible loyalty.
