God bless, Marc. I was his high school chaplain who spent some time with him as he discerned his college choice. Even then, he was an outstanding young man. I am sure he is missed in Milwaukee as he is at his Alma Mater in Pittsburgh, Central Catholic High School.

I was a student at Marquette University in the early 1980s at the same time as Mark. I can still remember him walking into our English class, as warm and friendly as ever. I also remember his intelligence, and how he'd engage in conversations with our professor during class. Mark was not only a star athlete, but a great student as well -- truly a rare human being. In later years, when I'd see him in downtown Milwaukee, Mark still could remember me as a Marquette classmate. I admired Mark, and I still feel so sad that he was taken from us at such a young age. Why?

To the entire Marotta family: our thoughts & prayers are with you as you endure such heartbreak. We are confident that the angels & Saints have led Marc safely home and that he will be with you through eternity. We truly enjoyed the gift to the world he was but what we'll remember most fondly is the pride & joy he exuded while watching his children play the game he loved. The love he had for you all was very apparent and so very heartwarming. Keep the faith and remember that in God's time all will ultimately be well.

to Kim and family, I am very sorry for your loss. I knew Marc and his family and watched his progress from 9th grade onward at Central Catholic and Marquette. He was a special person, a leader, an athlete, a student and a role model. He added husband, father and distinguished member of the Milwaukee and Wisconsin communities to that list as well. He started as a special person and maintained that throughout his life. I hope you will keep in your hearts all of the great times you have shared. Al DeVito

I was deeply saddened, and shocked to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of Marc Marotta. I will always remember him as a tall, handsome, polite, gentleman upperclassman, with a BIG presence on campus! He was always smiling and I will never forget his first greeting to me.
"What's up Freshman?" I had my class schedule in my hand and obviously the deer in the head light look...I'm confused/lost? He asked where I was trying to go and politely pointed out the directions and appropriate buildings for my classes. I was greatful and did tell him my name. We maintained a friendly rapport when our paths crossed...but Hey or what's up Fresh stuck until he graduated and left Marquette! My sincerest condolences to his family and the Milwaukee community. We have truly lost an icon in the city and state and Marquette University. I know Marquette has changed its name to Golden Eagles, but I will forever remember him as a WARRIOR

Dear Kim & Family,

Marc was an overachiever in every aspect of his life, his accomplishments were many and he will be deeply missed. He served as a tremendous example of what it means to generously give back to those that gave to him, but his greatest accomplishment is his wonderful wife and 4 great children. We are here to support you any way we can!

To the Family of Marc Marotta:

Marc's passing creates a big void in Milwaukee, not because he was this towering basketball player; but because he was a giant of a man. Marc was bright, funny and courageous and he relished the role of being a lawyer, advocate and friend to so many people. I, like many of you will miss his smile, laughter and story telling. My heavy heart goes out to Kim and their children, may God bless you and keep you.

Dear Kim and Family: We had the pleasure of working with Marc at F&L, and we can truly say he was on the success track but he never lost his gentle and kind spirit. He treated the support staff with the same respect he showed towards his partners at the firm. He left our community in a much better place than when he moved here and his memory will live on for a very long time. We know you will feel his loss deeply, but take comfort in knowing that he was a great example of a man in full.

April 12, 2015

Our Love, Thoughts and prayers to the Marotta Family and Friends. Because he was a great Family Man and a friend he will surely be missed by many people. May his life live on and be an example to many other people. God Bless all of you.

Love to each one of you.

I had Marc Marotta in one of my classes at Marquette University back in the early 1980s. I can still remember him all these years later walking into class, looking me in the eye and saying hello to me. When the Warriors were in town Marc was always in class -- he was as devoted to his studies as he was to the game of basketball. Many years later Marc saw me at Grand Avenue Mall and remembered me from our Marquette days. All those years later he was still as warm and friendly as he was as a student. He was a great role model -- outstanding student and athlete, and later a distinguished community servant. Success never spoiled him. Marc's passing is a sad loss for our city and state. May God welcome Marc into His kingdom in heaven, and may He bless his wife and children here on Earth.

April 11, 2015

I had the greatest opportunity starting in 1987 when Marc and I started at Foley & Lardner. I met a great lawyer and co-worker who always had time to ask me how my children were. My prayers go out to Kim and their children. We have truly lost a fine person too early. Please rest in peace.

April 11, 2015

In the forty years we've known him, Marc has been a true friend. From meeting him as a developing 7th grade basket ball star, to knowing him as an exemplary high school student, to proudly seeing him emerge as a true student athlete at Marquette, our friendship with Marc grew through each stage. However, it was as an adult that the friendship deepened and our appreciation for his kindness and good heart solidified. When our daughter Maria was a student at Marquette, Marc, Kim and the children were there to support her through home sickness, the challenges of college life, and the transition to adulthood. For years Marc taught and advised our son Mike through his own basketball development and most recently had been mentoring him through the challenges of growing a new business. We will miss the impromptu phone calls, and the unexpected text messages, but most of all we will miss our friend. Our love and condolences to Kim and the children.

My condolences to his family. Marc was an amazing man, so full of life. He was so kind and generous of his time with me, any success I've had in life Marc played a part in. Of all my memories of him the constant is him always telling me all about what his kids were doing. He was so proud of his children, I can only aspire to be as devoted and caring a father as he was. His loss opens up a huge hole in our community and our lives. He is missed.

Marc was a pleasure to work with in the Doyle Cabinet -(He was the DOA Secretary and I was the DFI Secretary). He was always professional and pleasant to work with and was one of the key authors of the 25% tax credit for start up businesses (Act 255) in our state - and our entrepreneur community is really growing because of it. Jack and I really enjoyed meeting Kim as well at annual Christmas parties at the Executive Residence - we both had the pleasure of being parents to 4 children. We send our deepest condolences to Kim to your four beautiful children, whom I know Marc was truly proud of and engaged in their lives. God Bless, Lorrie & Jack Heinemann, Madison,WI

I'm so sorry to hear about Marc's death. While I'm sure words are largely meaningless right now, you can always cherish the idea that he left the world a better place than he found it. He was a good friend, but more importantly, a good person. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
