When I think of Marisa I think of our grandmother's home in Sebring, Florida where I first met her and Trista. I remember long walks and sunshine and above all I remember admiring Marisa and the other older girls for their cool confidence. I remember laughing and trying to be like her. She was a wonderful, beautiful woman and I will never forget that time in our lives.

Marisa was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was always so put together, and had a bubbly personality. My sister and I met our cousins, Marisa and Trista later in life, but it felt like we were all kindred spirits. Trista and I were alike, while my sister Michelle and Marisa were alike. I will miss her, and was glad to have had the chance to meet her.

Toes in the sand; walking along the beach. It was the first time Marisa had been to the ocean. The expression on her face made me giggle when she put her feet in the water and squealed. The water was ice cold. Guess she was expecting a Southern California kinda beach! Well, she didn't get to swim that day but we had a great time. That's the curious, happy-go-lucky girl I will always remember.

Even though we are cousins, I did not get to meet Marisa until she was a teen, when she came to CA w/ Trista for Thanksgiving and stayed with me for a a few days. I will never forget waiting for them to get ready to go hang out around town for the day. When they finally came out of the bedroom they were both dressed in tank-tops, shorts and flip-flops! Too funny, because it was really cold. Being from Wisconsin they thought it was beautiful weather! Now when I see someone dressed for summer when it's cold I think, "they must be from Wisconsin!"
A beautiful girl with a beautiful smile, that's how I will always remember Marisa. See ya on the other side Marisa :)

Although we hadn't crossed paths in probably a dozen years, Marisa is a girl who I have fond memories of. Every time I see a burgundy Chevy Lumina, I think of Marisa, rides home from school, lots of girl-talk, and her wonderful laugh. I am incredibly sorry for your loss.

Dear Derzon Family,
On behalf of the Colby High School Class of 1999, we are deeply saddened and so sorry for your loss.
Even though Marisa only attended CHS for one year, she made the same positive impact that so many have commented on in these posts. I am grateful our paths crossed and that I had the chance to get to know her and appreciate her heart of gold. I remember her styling my hair for an interview, and she even let me borrow one of her dresses for senior prom. We had lots of chats about life, and her positive energy always made me smile.
Sincerely,
Tiffani (Calmes) Roltgen

Dalyn and Family..................I'm so sorry for your loss . I'm sure this past week or so has been hard for you and your family . I didn't know your daughter , but she was the same age as my own daughter . God must be giving you plenty of strength ; Don't know if I would be as strong as you . From all I've read , your daughter was a wonderful person and touched MANY lives in her short time here on earth . I'm sure she is watching over all of you .
I really wanted to come to the memorial service today . But a 2 hr drive just isn't feesable with my health issues right now . I will be thinking of you and your family and keep you in my prayers . I'm so sorry I can't be there . Sending you hugs , love and prayers .

Words cnanot express the sympathy we have for your family, nor the sorrow we feel for the loss of Marisa. In the short time we knew her, she changed our lives forever - her smile lit up a room along with her sparkling personality & her polka dot shoes!! She was already an Angel on earth....keeping you and your entire family in our prayers, Dick & Jan

I worked with Marisa at Regency Beauty Institute. She was amazing. She was always so funny, caring and just an outstanding person to be around. I can still hear her laugh in my head. There was something about her that I had never seen in anyone I had ever met before. Something almost magical.I will miss her forever.

Dalyn, Trista and family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Marisa's death - too young and too soon.
I remember Marisa as a bubbly third-grader, who sat behind me in class and let me keep my lunch tickets in her treasured pink pencil case. I have warm memories of our friendship in high school, when we would spend hours talking about boys, clothes and life in general in her cozy little bedroom at your old farmhouse near Stetsonville. She was always full of positive energy and a confidence that was inspiring. My heart is with you all.

I wouldn't be the person I am today without Marisa. She was my design team leader, mentor, friend, and even my client after I graduated from The Academy. Her peppy attitude and "organized chaos" will be missed by all, and I'm glad that our paths crossed, even though our time together was not long. Her family are in my prayers through this difficult time. She will always be a bright shining star!

I only worked with Marisa for a few months at the Academy Waukesha - Paul Mitchell Partner School, however, in such a short time, she left a huge imprint on my heart! Her smile, ambition and positive outlook on life were such a blessing to me... May we all find comfort knowing Marisa's spirit will always live on! I pray for God's strength, comfort and peace for the Derzon family and everyone who's lives were touched by Marisa.

Marisa and I were in the same class together at Vici. I can honestly say I have never met anyone with such an amazing drive and outlook on life as she had. She would go out of her way to help or lend a shoulder to cry on to anyone who needed it. I remember our first week at school I was worried about financial aid. Marisa took it upon herself to find out who I needed to contact, phone numbers to call, and even printed all the forms I needed to fill out. We just met, she barely knew me, and yet did she everything she could to help me. Marisa has definitely left a deep footprint in my life and I will never forget her. She was truly inspiring. My prayers are with her family and loved ones- may God grant you peace beyond understanding in this difficult time.
