Martin Hassenfelt Obituary

Hassenfelt, Martin R. "Marty" found peace on February 2, 2018 at the age of 68. Beloved husband and "buddy" of Nancy (Tryba) for 45 years. Proud dad of Todd (Kelly) Hassenfelt and Jill (Jeremy) Mueller. Happy and magical grandpa of Alex and Jake. Loving uncle of Jeff (Michelle) Patza and Andrea (Brian) Olson. Great Uncle of Morgan, Madelynn, Myah, and Mason. Son of Eileen and the late Robert Hassenfelt and brother to Sandy (Mark) Hassenfelt. Godfather to Mark Nornberg. Devoted owner of Lazarus the Cadillac. He is further survived by cousins, friends, neighbors, blackjack buddies, dominoes adversaries and church people. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law Edward and Florence Tryba, sister-in-law Chris Patza, his dear Aunt Edna, cribbage buddy Uncle Ray, and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Marty was born in Milwaukee and, for reasons only he could adequately explain, attended nearly a dozen different schools before graduating from Bay View High School. He treasured the time spent during his childhood summers with family on the farm and in the upper peninsula of Michigan. After high school, he worked for Racine Steel and was later an early adopter of workplace technology at Signicast in Brown Deer. He was an avid bowler and looked forward to golfing after work. Marty also enjoyed attending his son's high school and college basketball games and didn't complain too much about attending his daughter's choir concerts and plays. Marty and Nancy successfully accomplished their goal of visiting all fifty states and getting a picture in front of every state sign, even if it meant standing on the shoulder of the freeway to get the perfect shot. Marty lived with multiple sclerosis for over 20 years and was an inspiration to many who met him and his cane, Clyde. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and served as a trustee and on parish council. Marty was a fan of NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, and the best baseball team there is, the Milwaukee Brewers. Marty will be remembered for his sense of humor, his quick wit, and his fighting spirit. Marty's family would like to thank the staff at Community Memorial Hospital, Ron & Gerri Seiser, Kenneth Mich, and Jose Eluvathingal for their work and support. Visitation will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m on Saturday, February 10 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, N88 W17658 Christman Rd, Menomonee Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd. Private Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hassenfelt family or Good Shepherd Catholic Church are appreciated.

What a wonderful man. I didn't know Marty that long but he was a fun, caring man who I am glad i did get to know even if it was only for a short time. My thoughts and prayers go out to Nancy and their entire family!
