Mary Angeline Farrar

Milwaukee - Mary Angeline Farrar, nee Weissenberger, age 95, died February 9, 2021 at the Milwaukee Catholic Home. Mary's family thanks the wonderful staff at this excellent facility for taking wonderful care of Mary during her final years. Special thanks to Mike, her regular caregiver, and Melinda, her night caregiver.

Mary was born on March 31, 1925 in LaCrosse, WI to Albert and Rose Weissenberger, the youngest of five children. She is the last of them to wend her way to heaven.

Mary is survived by her eight children: Susan Melter, Abigail Glynn, Leslie Ann Farrar, Gretchen Farrar-Foley(Mark Foley), Jay Farrar(Deborah Kyle), Robert Farrar(Bonnie), Mary Farrar (Martin Franke), Michael Farrar (Nancy Chen); Grandchildren Jennifer Kosminskas (Scott), James Melter, Andrew Melter, Eric Melter, Jessica Miller, Brendan Farrar-Foley, Justin Farrar-Foley, Nicholas Farrar-Foley, Emma Farrar, Madeleine Franke, Lucas Franke, George Farrar, Charlotte Farrar; great-grandchildren BreAnna Melter, Micah Melter, Christian Melter, Dylan Brewer. Survived also by cousin Rosemary Hillig, godson Allen Boedeker and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Robert Farrar, sons-in-law, William Melter and Frank Glynn, her siblings, Gregory, Tony, Rose Rosin, Isabelle Boedeker, and parents Rose and Albert Weissenberger.

Mary re-entered the work force after raising her children, working in medical billing at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She soon became manager of the entire department. Later, she and Bob "retired " to Central Wisconsin and she became the office manager of a small newspaper in Waupaca. After returning to Milwaukee, Mary became the office administrator at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She ran the office and made all arrangements for the foreign doctors who came to do research. She retired from the Medical College in 1993. She had always volunteered at St. John's Cathedral, and after retiring became more involved. She leaves behind many good friends from this wonderful and supportive church.

Mary loved to travel. She went to Italy with her oldest son Jay and his wife Debra, and on an Alaskan cruise with her sister Rose, brother-in-law Joe Rosin, and cousin Rose Hillig. She was always adventurous taking her children exploring to the various parts of Milwaukee, across Wisconsin, and outside Wisconsin. Her children had a truly magical childhood, and she continued this tradition with her grandchildren. She has now embarked on another grand adventure.

Because of the current pandemic, a memorial service at the Cathedral of St. John will be held later in the summer. Another notice will be published at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Medical College of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Catholic Home, or the Cathedral of St. John Outdoor Café meal program.
