Mary LeMense Obituary

LeMense, Mary Lou (Nee Keegan) With her family at her side, Mary went to her eternal rest, after a brief illness, on April 4, 2009. Resident of Mequon. Former resident of Shorewood, Whitefish Bay and River Hills. Mary leaves her husband Bob, her daughter Mary of Greenfield and her son Robert and his wife, Lynne, along with their three sons, Samuel, Andrew, and Robert. One of her five sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Patricia) Dillon of Edina, Minnesota, also survives her. Nineteen nieces and nephews, other relatives and good friends further survive her. Mary graduated from Rosary College (now Dominican University) with a degree in Library Science. She became an Engineering library specialist and worked in Chicago. In 1951, she accepted a position as cataloger at the University of Notre Dame Library. There she met Bob LeMense who had come back to Law School after serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Bob said it was his good fortune not only to get his Juris Doctor Degree, but also to meet the love of his life. They were married on June 12, 1954 in the Sacred Heart Church on the campus at Notre Dame. Bob accepted a position at Whyte, Hirschboeck & Minahan in Milwaukee, which became home for fifty-four years. Although Mary worked on many charitable projects, during the last fifty-four years, including acting as librarian of the St. Eugene School Library, her main mission in life was caring for her husband and children, and as they arrived, doting on her grandsons. She remained throughout her life a devout Catholic. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, at the Feerick Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8 at Lumen Christi Church, 2700 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon, WI 53092. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association Lumen Christi Helping Hand, or the charity of your choice.
