Matthew Petersen Obituary

Petersen, Matthew Many will remember Matt from Swallow Elementary and Arrowhead High during the 60's, and later in Northlake, WI. His life took him to many places beyond the vineyards of Northcote: to the island of Montserrat; the village of Draguignan in the south of France; Santa Fe, NM and Seattle, WA. An outdoorsman, he could sail a boat, work the land, grow wine grapes and ski the mountains. He'd beat you in a round of golf and somehow make you feel as if you had won. Matt was Matt. He touched many people with his unique, happy-go-lucky manner, unselfish spirit and essential sweetness. With his deep empathy, good judgment, warm support and loving concern, he lived to be of service to others. Many feel they have lost a most loyal friend. We grieve the loss of a kind and friendly soul.

I've heard many warm stories of his life and his great love for Seth and Sadie. May his gentle spirit be with those who shared his life for a time.

He came to buy pickles
or so he said
The small boy took him by the hand and led him to the lake to look for me
There was something familiar about him
Natural as taking a breath
Light as dandelion down making its way across the field
We were comforted and cradled in the warmth of his love
Forever, remembering him

Matt will be missed and accompanied with many fond memories of a kind and loving soul.
