I did not know Michael Hendley. I come from a military family who has served in every branch of the armed forces from World War 1 to Vietnam. As General MacArthur mentioned, Duty, Honor and Country, I found those words to be my guideposts in life. I believe that Michael did also. His service in the United States Army was a light for others to follow. My dad served in the Army Infantry in WWII and left us at a very early age. I hold a special place in my heart for those veterans who have preceded me and in that regard, I honor them and salute them at the end. I wish I would have known Michael. We could have shared war stories that my dad was reluctant to share with me. Michael's passing will not be forgotten as long as we remember him. He will always be one of my brothers in arms. Rest in peace Michael Bruce Hendley and we will certainly meet in a joyful place. My condolences to the family he leaves behind. Howard Hadley, Chief Master Sergeant, USAF (Retired).
