Michael Neufeldt Obituary

Neufeldt, Michael Entered peacefully into Eternal Life on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the age of 37 years. Beloved son of Raymond and Carol (Nee Cotter). Loving brother of Sara (Brian) Dwyer. Adored uncle of Joey and Alex Dwyer. Treasured nephew of Jean and Tom Tarlton; Tom and Judy Cotter; and John Cotter. Beloved grandson of the late Francis and Christine Cotter and the late Anthony Neufeldt. Special godson of Mary Beth Klitgaard. Also survived by other relatives and many dear friends. Mike battled Muscular Dystrophy his entire life. He never let that stop him from setting and achieving so many goals. He served as The Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) Goodwill Ambassador in Southeastern Wisconsin in 1985-86, and continued his service as their National Goodwill Ambassador in 1987-88. Mike continued to serve MDA as a telethon emcee for over a decade and on numerous committees to promote public awareness and raise funds for MDA. Mike couldn't play sports, but they were his passion. Marquette University Golden Eagles, Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and New Berlin Eisenhower Lions were his favorite teams and he enjoyed going to the games to cheer them on. Mike graduated from New Berlin Eisenhower High School in 1996 and from Marquette University in 2000 with a BA in Broadcast and Electronic Communications. Mike's community service and academic achievements lead him to be chosen as a Burke Scholar, which earned him a full tuition scholarship to Marquette. Mike received many awards throughout his life. He was particularly proud of receiving Marquette University's James T. Tiedge Memorial Award in 2006, the Robert Ross MDA National Personal Achievement Award in 2008, and the Alpha Sigma Nu Danihy Club's Young Alumnus Award in 2012. Mike co-authored the book "Tales from the Marquette Hardwood" with treasured friend Tom Pipines in 2005. Mike worked at Harley-Davidson Motor Company for the past 13 years. He was a valued member of the e-marketing team. Mike embraced one of the H-D philosophies--life is about the journey, not the destination. Visitation on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (12700 W. Howard Ave., New Berlin) from 2:00-5:30 PM. with Mass of Christian Burial at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Michael's name to the Southeastern Wisconsin Muscular Dystrophy Association; 330 S. Executive Drive, #100A; Brookfield, WI 53005.

Carol, Ray, and Sara. I spent a year teaching Mike in fifth grade. He is a great guy: pleasant, positive, and hard working, because of you, his family. My classroom was a better place because he was in it. I am a better person because he was in it. So, as you think back on all the memories, please know that many of us share those memories and are better people for having had Mike in our lives. Rest in peace, Mikey.

There isn't enough space here to fully describe the "Mikey Effect", but he had a profound impact on my life, and I'm sure the lives of everyone else he touched. His courage, determination, perseverance, and humility were such a positive influence on all who knew him. I'm a better person for having had him in my world. Carol and Ray, my thought are with you and your family. Thank you for sharing Mikey with me and the rest of the world!

Mike, please know I am with you and your family in spirit as they celebrate your incredible life's journey. From the moment we met in my office when you were 2 years old, to our last trip to see the Brewers this past summer, I knew I had met someone exceptional. You will be missed, but never forgotten by me and my family. Thanks for letting me be part of your life.

To Mikey's family;

My wife and I pray for your peace, comfort and strength with the loss of Mikey. I met Mikey over 27 years ago when he and a bodybuilder were being taped for the local MDA telethon at a gym called TJs Fitness. I still have the tape and have looked at it many times as Mike was so inspirational.

Thank you Mike for being you and giving so much motivation and encouragement to others.

Dear Neufeldt Family
Mikey (as Jill Geisler used to call him on the annual MD telethon years ago) will be in our hearts forever. May your family be at peace knowing your son gave so much joy to many of us that only knew him through the telethon. God bless you during this difficult time. Prayers are with you.
