Michael, my cousin, I can still see you with that big smile on your face, riding your bike down 20th street. Remember the time when you lived on Pennsylvania Street and we went down to the lake to goof around. We were heading back to the house but we stopped over by the fountain on Iron Street and drank what I guess was distilled water? You got a stomach ache and kept blaming it on the “iron” water…
How bout the time you took your tape recorder apart? We had to speak really slowly into it and then when you put it back together we sounded like we were talking really fast? How in the world did you figure that out? How about the time when you guys lived over off of National Ave. You had the scary basement and we used to scare Scotty by making him come down there with Yvonne and sticking our eyes in the holes in the walls… I remember when you guys lived up on 20th and Layton. You and I used to stand up on the bridge and jump up and down and wave at cars and one time some older people got off the highway and come up on the bridge because they thought we were signaling for help! I also remember that there used to be two Corvettes parked in the lot up there on 20th street behind the apartments. I remember you telling me that by the time we could afford those cars, they would look like this. You went on to show me how the car would look different and I have to tell you, you were absolutely right! I still tell people this story because I swear they look just like you said they would.
How bout the time I spent the night at the 20th street apartment and we were up at 3 AM goofing off with flashlights. Your mom came in with her eyes as big as saucers and gave you one of her famous “rapid-fire” spankings. As soon as she left we started laughing about it. Blanche and I used to make up songs, and you came up with one of our goofy kids classics. “A pig did a jig, on top of a wig, he said iggy, iggy, I am a piggy,” which came complete with a dance you created. We had a lot of fun, good fun. No video games and VCRs to entertain us, we just made stuff up and went places. I feel sorry for the kids today because they don’t have the kind of fun we did.
It’s been way to long since the last time I saw you. I’ll always remember your smiling face, adventurous spirit, and easy going nature. I hope the family can take solace in knowing your salvation is assured, and that you are okay. May God bless you and your family, and I know you’ll enjoy riding your bike in Heaven.

Cousin, as I sit and remember the time we shared growing up together I have many fond memories. Mike, I will remember you as the free spirit you were. You were so carefree and always laughing. Sometimes I don't think you knew what you were laughing about but you always managed to make me laugh. I will miss the laughter we all shared as cousins, but when I laugh I will think of you.
As you stroll the grassy hills of the heavens remember to laugh with us, remember we love you,
and remember to keep your sunglasses on!
(Inside joke, but I know Mike is laughing now)
I love you MIke!
