MY CONDOLENCES TO THE ORENSTEIN FAMILY WITH RESPECT TO THE PASSING OF MIRIAM.
IT SEEMS, AS I THINK BACK MANY, MANY YEARS, I'VE KNOWN THE PARENTS OF BOTH SAMMY & LARRY ORENSTEIN WHEN THEY LIVED WEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF N. 20TH & W. FOND DU LAC AVE., NEAR THE OLD CLIMAX THEATRE, AND THE SEARS DEPARTMENT STORE, A BLOCK, N.W. ON W. FOND DU LAC AVE.
THE PARENTS FIRST NAMES, I CAN'T RECALL, BUT I CAN VISUALIZE, THE FATHER, WHO WAS EXTREMELY ACTIVE IN MILWAUKEE'S JEWISH COMMUNITY.
LARRY WAS OLDER THAN ME, AND SAMMY, MORE MY AGE, LAST LIVED IN WOODLAND HILLS , CA. WHEN I WAS EMPLOYED IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA FOR 25 YEARS.
HAVING CROSSED BETWEEN TWO DRAMATICALLY DIAMETRIC DIFFERENT CAREERS, TELEVISION BROADCASTING (CHANNEL 10 & CHANNEL 6 , AND BEING A MILWAUKEE POLICE OFFICER, FOR OVER 18 YEARS, BEFORE I VISITED LOS ANGELES AND WANTED TO LEAVE SNOW & COLD BEHIND ME.
I GOT TO RE-AQUAINT MYSELF WITH BOTH LARRY & MIRIAM, WHEN THEY LIVED, A HALF BLOCK SOUTH OF CAPITAL DR., ACROSS FROM THE OLD CAPITAL COURT SHOPPING CENTER, ON N. 58TH STREET..
BOTH LARRY & MIRIAM WERE WONDERFUL PEOPLE, AND A NICE PLACE TO STOP BY AND DRINK A COCA COLA AND HAVE CONVERSATION.
IN SEPTEMBER 1980, I RESIGNED FROM THE MILWAUKEE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND MOVED TO LOS ANGELES, TO RETURN TO MY BROADCASTING CAREER.
DONALD H. PINSKER, PROUD FORMER MILWAUKEE POLICE OFFICER, 1962-1980.
