Paul Quick Obituary

Quick, Paul F. Died on April 22, 2007. Paul's family members include his wife Vivian, his children and their families: Tracy Quick Lindsay and Chris (Kate, Maureen and Michael), Joanne Quick Blaesing and Geoff (Patrick and Danny), Paul F. Quick II and Mary Reinders (Paul III, Brian and David), and Patrick G. Quick and Brenda (Bridget, Aubrey and Conor). Also survived by stepchildren Patrick and Susan O'Toole, Peggy and Dennis Condon, Kathy and Lyle Stam, Mary O'Toole and Nathaniel Werner, Tim and Melinda O'Toole along with loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother Joe Quick, sister Virginia Dolder and sisters-in-law Patricia Quick, Marge Healy and Pat Healy Andera. Paul is remembered fondly by wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and business associates. He was preceded in death by many who greeted him joyfully as he arrived in Heaven. Paul was a lifelong citizen of Hartford, WI, who committed time and energy and took action to build his community. He was born on June 20, 1923, to Frank and Theresa (Gehl) Quick. He attended St. Kilian Grade School and graduated from Hartford Union High School in 1941. Paul's studies at Marquette University's College of Engineering were interrupted by service in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He graduated from MU in 1947 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Paul was a Triangle Fraternity brother. Paul married Peggy Healy in October 1949. Together they raised four children. He suffered the loss of Peg in August 1977. Paul was a lucky man; he met and eventually married Vivian O'Toole in 1996. Quick began his professional career with West Bend Aluminum Company, which became Chrysler Outboard Corporation/Marine Division. He retired in 1984 as Manager of Product Planning and Engineering. He achieved the license designation of PE (Professional Engineer). The real story of Paul relates to his interest in people, having "novel ideas" and helping individuals achieve their personal best. Paul was a wonderful father, mentor, friend and confidant and a man of thoughtfulness and intellect. During his lifetime, Paul was Hartford City Planning Commissioner chair and secretary, St. Joseph's Hospital director, founding director and vice president of Hartford Memorial Hospital (now Aurora), Washington County Commissioner of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), volunteer guide for the Wisconsin Automotive Museum, member of Washington County's Landmark Committee --- the list goes on and on. Paul was a man on the go. He took pride in his list of 90 automobiles held during his lifetime. On March 16 of this year, a stroke left Paul in grave condition, yet he rallied by maintaining a positive attitude with great determination. Last week, the family visited rehabilitation centers in Washington County to plan for an impending release from Milwaukee's St. Luke's Hospital. On Saturday, Paul enjoyed the fresh spring day in an outside courtyard at St. Luke's. Because of these positive events, his death was unexpected. The family offers special thanks to Krishna Neni, M.D. and Mary Mayr, R.N. of St. Luke's Hospital, the team in Neurosurgical ICU, 2 North Rehab; medical, nursing, OT, PT, speech and respiratory departments alike. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, from 3:30 until 8:30 PM, with a prayer vigil at 8:00 PM, at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford. Additional visitation Friday, April 27, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, prior to the Mass of Christian burial which will be held at 11:00 AM, at St. Kilian Church, 428 Forest St., Hartford, WI, with Fr. David LaPlante officiating. Donations in Paul's memory to the following in lieu of flowers, are greatly appreciated: ALS Association of Wisconsin, 2505 North 124th St. #105, Brookfield, WI 53005; Schauer Arts and Activities Center, 147 N. Uncle Paul,
You had the zest for life some can only dream of. Your love for family and traditions unmatched. Many will miss you daily and some will take comfort in knowing you are at peace with your Peggy. The full life you led and the great family you raised should provide quick entry in the eternity that is heaven. Peace is now yours.

The Quick Family,

I already wrote Paul to tell him of the sorrow I felt when I heard of PFQ I's passing. This especially after catching such promising excerpts of his recovery after the stroke.
I pray that you are all comforted by the wonderful long life he had, the impact he made on so many and that you know where he is going to watch over you as your lives continue.
I was blessed only a few times to spend time with Paul, but all were enjoyable and memorable - perhaps most when he rode off from a party with me on the back of my motorcycle. His love for machines perhaps making him more brave than he should have been. Godspeed.

Having 2 Brazilian son in laws , i've been exposed to that country's Paulo Cahleho. He explaine that the cell splits and multiplies at certain conditions. The soul is like the cell , the fundamental unit of life. At death , according to PC, the soul divides (and multiplies ) one returning to God and one "carrying on " .
Our ancestors are really living on in 2 worlds. We are really spirits experiencing a human existence not
humans experiencing a spiritual one

To the entire Quick clan, we send our deepest sympathies.
The state of Wisconsin is not the only one who lost a fabulous friend and citizen, those of us from Minnesota also mourn the lost of Mr. Quick. Of course, we have many, many stories and fabulous memories of your dad! From the dorms at the U of M and Stubb and Herbs to drinking a pint in PFQ's Hartford home while Tanya slept through the night for the first time! His enthusiasm, smile and love of family, life, cars and veggie pizza has made an impression on us all and will surely be missed.
Love, Mike and Sue,
Tanya, Nic and Aleksei
