I had the pleasure of watching Peter perform when I was a regular visitor to The Safe House. He was always ready to strike up a conversation between shows, and was one hell of a great guy. I remember many a night discussing JFK and I was amazed at his knowledge on the subject.
My condolences to all of his family.

I first meet Pete at Shakey's Pizza in West Allis in 1979.I lived across the street, and Peter was known as "UNCLE SHAKEY" (he worked at the Safe House in the mid 70"s before and after this)....right away we got along because of our love of magic/motorcycles/ JFK,and I started working at Shakey's too.I talked Peter into going on a motorcycle trip out west to Colorodo, and he loved the idea, since he had worked at John Denver s bar in Aspen(while living in a TEE-PEE AND HIS CAR).of course Pete had to modify his Yamaha 750,with a manikin woman built on the back seat of it.....this got hundreds of looks and was quite the conversation during our trip....we saw bears/buffalo/and even had John Denver stop at the Maroon Bells to visit....on our next trip,Peter upgraded again, buying a Yamaha 1100, and had a fiberglass full size black panther cat built over entire bike, with the manikin women of course...we went to the Badlands/Mount Rushmore/Colorado,and had full your buses of old ladies taking pictures with his custom bike(cows would do a double take when we drove by)....Peter also would have multiple near death experiences on each of our trips too.....once, a piece of metal got kicked up from our friends bike, and hit Pete in his air force helmet, then sliced into his throat, giving him a deep cut, and temporarily knocking him out....another trip, we were coming down the mountains in Aspen(doing 80mph),when I noticed a huge bubble in his back tire, fortunately it did did not explode, and finally, while driving straight from Milwaukee to Denver, we got bad directions late at night, and ended up hitting sand road, and Peter flipped over his handle bars, and bent them, fortunately he did not get hurt.We did another trip out east also, and Pete hit someone(car) in my car. Those were still some awesome trips/memories we shared.....he also made a dummy of my face with plaster/rubber,and we shared lots of JFK talks...I remember going to see Star Wars movies with him too, and would go to King Richards Faire with him(he worked their 1 summer, with his pet raccoon baby he had)......I went to get a red corvaire with him too, and after filling up tank with gas and getting on freeway ramp, the back end started on fire..(squirrels had built a nest in 1 of the mufflers),and a truck driver came of freeway to put it out!We would go to the EAA, and Peter was dead set on buying a para-plane to fly over the grand canyon he thought......we would spend lots of nights at the safe house, which he worked at for years as SNEAKY PETE(or as he would say 'STINKY FEET")....Peter took me and my wife to 2 John Denver concerts, and we got to go backstage to meet him.....very cool!!!....I lost touch with Peter for quit awhile after our kids where born, but always thought about him, and all the things we did together...I called him when he was very sick, and was sorry to hear about his health issues, but talked about all our crazy adventure together......I was very sad to hear of his passing(never got word of any service/private)...and was just listening to John Denver which brought back all those memories....Peter was a great magician, and he was my friend! Glad I got to share in some of best parts of his life with him.....RIP

One of the joys and best memories of my years working at Safe House was sitting with Sneaky Pete after hours conversing about anything. I loved his old AMC black Pacer, his card tricks and his humor behind the bar; "Hey lady, Lincoln's smilin'!" I could talk to him about anything. And he sure was up on anything about JFK. This magical treasure will truly be missed.

One of Magic's True Characters. He made a mark on magic in Colorado back in the glory days.

I worked with Peter at WTMJ-TV back in 1970. He was quite a character and a terrific close-up magician. I always had an interest in card magic and he certainly stoked the flames with that ever present deck in the zippered bag. Pete was one of those unforgettable characters that somehow seemed to know everyone or everyone else at some time knew him.

Sneaky Pete was one of the best close up magic acts in the business. But more importantly, he was a gentle and giving individual. Peter would sit and teach you card sleights till your fingers fell off, or dawn arrived. Spent many hours learning how to handle a deck with him. I always will regard Peter as a friend and great magical entertainer. My regards. (Bob aka the Amazing Rath)
