Dear Charlie,

I was so saddened to hear about your son Phil. I know, from the few conversations we had about him, that you were very proud of him. I'm so sorry I could not be there to shake your hand and tell you in person. My wife, Carmen (Sonja's sister), also feels terrible about this and sends here condolences. Neither of us can imagine the pain you and Maureen are feeling right now. All we can do is hope and pray that finding the strength to make it through this terrible tragedy comes as easy as possible to both of you.

Take Care, Charlie. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Maureen.

We are so saddened to hear of Philip's passing. His life was too short for all of us. Such a kind and quite young man. We were his neighbors in Germantown until he moved to New Berlin. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this difficult time.

Phil will be missed terribly by those who knew him. He always had a beautiful smile and a kind word for every one. We all loved his competitive spirit and he will be greatly missed by those who came to call him friend on the Novice men's crew team.
