Bob Linoel Slater was born on July 7,1940 to Bertha Adams and Darrel Slater in Portales, NM. He passed surrounded by his loving family on February 26, 2026, In Albuquerque NM. He was a devoted husband to Noami Romero Slater, for 61 years, who preceded him in 2024; a loving father to Julie Slater Amato (Ron) and Patrick Slater (Lynn Marie Rusaw); a grandfather to Mathew, Adam, Jovana, Estevan, Antonio; and great-grandfather to Melia and Kaliyah. Bob is survived by his children; brother Steve Slater (Theresa); Sister-in-law Toni (Ivan) Montoya; Phillip and Josephine Romero including numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by Alex Romero Jr (Surviving wife Jane), Tony and Delphina Roybal, and Connie and Raymond Garcia.
Bob graduated from Clovis High School and New Mexico State University with a Civil Engineering Degree. Bob held many positions with the State of NM and the federal government, which included the NM Highway Department as well as the Department of Energy and Defense.
During his time with the highway department in the Sixties, he met Noami Romero from Pojoaque, NM, on a blind date. They fell in love and married. The couple moved from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, to Dallas, and Amarillo, Texas. The couple spent most of their time in Albuquerque.
Bob was a devoted family man who was proud of his family's accomplishment and enjoyed spending time with his extended family. He was also an accomplished golfer and fisherman. Bob worked on the Church of the Risen Savior from its inception, as part of the building committee. He was also involved with the St. Vincent De Paul Society. He also enjoyed a wide range of sports and later in life, loved his puzzles, and spending time with his grand-pups.
Services for Bob will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 at the Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming NE in Albuquerque. A private interment will take place at a later date.
