Doris L. Burress
Doris L. Burress, long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, with family by her side. She was born on July 11, 1928, to George and Esther Bulluss in Whitewater, Montana. She was raised on a small ranch outside of Malta, Montana. She graduated from Northern Montana College in the spring of 1947 and worked for Anaconda Copper Mining Co. until her marriage to William H. Cross in 1949. She and Bill moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for two years before relocating to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She married Howard E. Burress on August 15, 1969, and a few years later she and Howard moved to Albuquerque's west side, where she remained for the rest of her life. She enjoyed gardening, golf, her many friendships and cherished her time as a member of PEO, where she was a past president of her chapter.
She was preceded in death by husbands, William Cross and Howard Burress and son, Brian Cross. She is survived by daughters, Jeanne St. John, Barbara Burress; sons, H. William Burress, Paul Burress, Warren Cross and Kevin Cross.
At her request, there will be no memorial service. Interment will be at Del Norte Cemetery, Del Norte Colorado.
