Kianovsky, Raphael August 31, 2013, of Milwaukee. Beloved husband of 53 years to the late Rochelle (née Franklin), cherished son to the late Isaac and Dorothy Kianovsky, dear brother of the late Toby (the late Jerry) Malmon and brother-in-law to Diane (the late Alan) Budner, loving and beloved father to Sarah (Frank Friedman), Zev (Arlene Lukin) and Nahum (Sarah Rosen); kvelling Zaide of Yonit, Samuel, Mina, Isaac, Dora, Jacob and Nate, and loving uncle, cousin and nephew to many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Born July 23, 1931 in Milwaukee, he also lived in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Madison, Paris and Salzburg, but returned to Milwaukee. He studied music at UW-Madison and the Mozarteum, and worked as a composer, conductor arranger and multi-instrumentalist. Taught music at UWM, Marquette and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, where he was dean. He was also a farm-hand and opera director in Spring Green. Fierce friend to many and respected teacher to many more. He also cherished his new and renewed friendships among both residents and staff at Chai Point. Graveside services 12:00 noon Monday, September 2, 2013, at Second Home Cemetery, 3705 S. 43 St., Milwaukee. Memorial gifts to the Jewish Home and Care Center Foundation - Chai Point, 1414 N. Prospect Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Rochelle was a dear friend from Washington High School music program. Clearly she excelled at husband-picking too !
