Ray Derpinghaus Obituary

Ray C. Derpinghaus, 69, of Shorewood, shuffled off this mortal coil Sunday, January 3rd after a brief cardiac illness. Beloved husband and true partner of Susan Forbes. Unconditionally loving father of Thomas (Rosa de Acosta) and Peter (Erica) Derpinghaus. Smitten "Baba" of Yago, Carolina, Luther Ray, George, and Oscar Derpinghaus. Dear big brother of Anne (Sam) Miller. Also, survived by his lively Forbes in-laws, nieces and nephew.

Ray loved to travel; whether getting lost in Marrakech, walking the Camino in Spain or wandering the streets of Hong Kong, he was up for anything. His curiosity about almost everything was infectious. He loved Shakespeare, Monty Python and a bourbon Manhattan, but above all else his "perfect" family.

Ray's memorial celebration will be deferred until everyone is vaccinated. Donations if desired to American Players Theatre, Spring Green, WI. Our deepest gratitude to the staff of the CVICU at Froedtert hospital.

Ray was a wonderful neighbor. We loved chatting with him around school and the community. He clearly adored children and his grandchildren.

Hi. I´m so sorry to hear about the death of Ray. I have great memories of Ray (and his Dad) from when I was in Boy Scouts. Ray was a year older than me and someone I really looked up to (physically, too). I remember how he would hold his hands flat with arms extended straight down while he ran faster than anyone else in our troop. He was a person that encouraged me to advance in Boy Scouts. Even as a young man he was a great guy. Thanks.

Is this the Ray who was in Boy Scout Troop 149 that used to meet at Grantosa Drive Elementary School on the northwest side of Milwaukee?

Susan and family, I choked up when I saw this obit today. John and I are so very sorry about Ray's passing. We remember the good times at swim meets with Evan and Tom. Please extend our sympathies to Tom, his brother, and kids. With heavy hearts, John and Susan Gruzis
