Richard Cecil Obituary

Cecil, Richard James passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018, age 84. Beloved husband for 33 years to Barbara (nee Hobl), father of Kimberly (Keith Segrin), Erin (Livio Pigo), Richard "Grant", Ken "Sean" (Susie), James "Kelly", Elizabeth (Eben Armer), and Alexis. His legacy includes 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, James & Ruth Cecil. Born on Jan. 27, 1934 in Milwaukee, Richard was raised in Shorewood. He graduated from UWM and was an Army veteran, serving as a 2D LIEUT. He served as President of the UWM Alumni Association ('74-'76). Richard was involved in the selection of the Summerfest location and was proud of his service to the City of Milwaukee for 28 years. His passion was model railroading. He served as Assistant Director of Trainfest and was actively involved in the East Troy Railroad Museum where he served as Chairman of the Board. Richard was a symphony enthusiast, recently becoming involved with Barbara in the MSO Patron group. Richard loved traveling the world with his wife Barbara. He enjoyed the National Parks and satisfied his desire to visit all 50 of the United States. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to the East Troy Railroad Museum or Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Gathering for friends and family, Sat. Feb. 24th, 1-4 PM with a tribute at 2:30 PM. University Club, 924 E. Wells, Milwaukee. Light lunch provided. Underground parking available (entrance on N. Prospect Ave).

Richard and my husband Lyle shared many stories and jokes over the years when they both worked for the City of Milwaukee. They both had a crazy sense of humor.

My thoughts and prayers are with Barb and all of Dick's family at this sad time.
